-Episode 66-

GOSH, that was unbelievable!! They did it! Toei freaking did it!!
Definitely the best looking DBS episode and one of the best looking episode from the entire franchise.

Called it that Vegetto vs Merged Zamasu would only start in the second part.
The fight was short. Personally I think it was rushed. I would go with this episode for Vegetto and the next one for FT Trunks.

But God Shida delivery it and made it so epic. While I was watching his cut, I kept repeating "Don't end yet! Don't end yet!" to myself. So good!
Someone clone this guy, because we should stay with us forever.

All the others did great too. Serisouly. congratulations to everyone!!

Despiste thinking it was rushed I can't just get mad, when I see Toei put the entire best manpower of DBS in one episode. Now that's how you do a climax!
Props to everyone once again.

It's sad how some people ignore the visual quality of this episode, because they are just butthurt with writing details. It's in time like these, you see how pathetic this fanbase can be.

Anyway like has already been said before, Toei should just outsource a filler arc or the next slice of life episodes while they keep working in the next arc, and improving the schedule. Gaining three months would be good.

If Super lasts long enough things may become normal eventually, but why not solve this problem right now?! This arc was a success, people won't drop Super only because they will get another filler arc.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

I don't think anyone is questioning how good this episode was visually, it's one of the episodes strongest assets. However, I will always prefer a well written script over-pretty colours and to be honest I'm happy that at least some people thought it was retarded.

Now this doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the episode, it was certainly entertaining, with some of the best animation the tv branch this series has ever seen. However, that doesn't mean I thought it was a good episode. It really wasn't. But then again that could just be because I'm evil

Would anyone be so kind as to provide that amazing shot of Vegetto Blue when he repels/bursts Zamasu's giant sun ball or supernova (forgot the name of the attack)? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Okay, since all the action of this arc has rapped up. I think it would be a good time to reflect on our opinions on what the best animated episodes of each arc are :D

BOG: Ep 14
It was just a consistently solid episode, with Ryo Onishi's opening cut for the episode being one of the best this series has had, even though it was clearly still a by-product of Supers rushed schedule. (It does lose some of it's mojo in the second half, but its definitely still holds up as the best of the arc for me)

ROF: Ep 26(probably)
Easily the most inconsistent episode I've chosen. The first half of this episode still contains the longest amount of booru worthy footage that the show has had. Really fantastic stuff, if a little rough around the edges at times. That is until, of course, the "real fight" begins and all the momentem from the first half was completely destroyed.

Champa: Ep 38
My reasons for choosing this episode is a complete 180 of my previous choice. Both halves of this episode are really solid, with the second half being a little more so in my opinion. Though there wasn't much in the way of noteable animation, it certainly possessed the highest quantity of consistently solid animation that we had seen so far.

Black: Ep 66
This episode is fairly self-explanatory, both halves of this episode are rock solid, with some great action cuts, and even when their wasn't great animation, the interesting effects works, the cool rotations and the polished artwork made this episode the most consistently well animated and visually appealing episode that we have had in Super. As well as one of the best animated episodes that the franchise has produced.

As for improvements, it's hard to say since we still know so little about the schedule. This episode could mark an improvement in the schedule, but it could just be that certain things fell into place that allowed Shida to start work earlier than he did on his last episode.
That is pretty interesting! I assumed they would be just working on one show/cut at a time.

There are animators that will work exclusively on one show though, just to make that clear. Shida's not one of those kinds of animators though.

Do we know if it's Toei animation's policy to have people working on multiple shows? I see that the most recent series Dbs, Tiger mask w, precure "recycle" the same staff. Is it just Toei animation's policy to have every animator work on everything? Also it feels like Toei animation's main staff are considered regulars. Do they form long run contracts?

This episode had movie quality. Almost every action animator that works in DBS was in this episode and it was worth it, I just hope that in the future, almost every episode will look like this one, animation wise.

One can hope but I highly doubt that will be the case.

Naotoshi Shida mentioned he'll likely be participating in Dragon Ball Super again next year. (Probably Super, though)

Always nice to have things to look forward to!

I have to say the Kaioken kick Goku gave to Zamasu is by far one of my favourite kicks in the entire franchise. Together with the one SSJ Goku gives to Freeza in ROF Special. which is a faithful adaptation from the manga. Both are amazing!
Could it be our deserved third Movie?!
Anyway, Shida is so treasured by the fans that It's cool to know he won't leave us.

Why a movie exactly?
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

We're going to get the next arc next year so yeah probably that. A new movie isn't out the question though Yamamuro and someone else did an interview back in March I think and they strongly hinted a new movie.

Definitely its going to be next major arc which will really get rolling early next year. I doubt it's gonna be a movie because Toei already have their hands full.

Just you. There were tons of on-model shots, but I, even as someone who's wrong about this stuff 3/4 of the time, can spot Yamamuro from a mile away, and I didn't see anything of his.

I don't know, some shots in this episode gave me some serious episode 13 vibes. Especially the final part with Trunks vs Zamasu.
