I feel kind of bad for not helping out with this. I do think that if this comes out good that a version could be subtitled in Spanish done either by me (I would need someone with the technical know how to tell me how to add subs to the video) or merely translated by me. This all hinges on whether or not it's any good or not. If there is a good response I'll come through out of that result. Yeah...no joke there.
PS:As for the Sacred Tree, would that be better as Santísimo Árbol (Most Holy Tree) or just Santo Árbol. One of the other things is that the idea of a sacred tree is part of Precolombian beliefs and was part of Mexican culture before the Spanish Conquest. How will that work or not work is another question. The other solution is to use the term from Japanese.

Hello guys, sorry to let you wait, but it was a pure coincidence to hear, that you're waiting for takes from me.
Since there are a lot of stress factors for me right now, I made those takes in a rush and without the right passion - so I'm absolutely not satisfied with the results. I hope it's good enough for demonstration purposes though. Don't forget to put a lot of reverb into the battle scream, so it won't sound too lousy after all! And btw. my name is René Hintz not Rene H.

Alrighty, I've DLed and will implement it to the trailer. Curious, did Rene do something special with the file? My average download rate is 4-5 KBs a sec (yes yes, laugh at my dial-up), yet this mp3 DLed at 20-30 KBs a sec. >.>;;Timo wrote:Finally, Tullece!^^

Ehh. It had a nice and clear sound to it, but it sounded like a regular effeminate anime villain.Timo wrote:Finally, Tullece!^^

@ Bardock: Thanks for the interest and offering. As for subtitling, I don't think our audience is going to be large enough to be worth it, and besides, I don't know about anyone else, but I sure as hell don't know how to author subtitles onto a DVD. If anyone else does know, however, and wants to put a subtitle track or two on, then by all means, I'll get back to you about translating. But that'll be a ways down the road...
@ Timo: Huzzah! Tullece lines!
Also...
@ Nathan: How's the poster lookin' so far, d00d?

As I've pointed out before, I use Windows Movie Maker. However, just because that program has limitations doesn't mean I can't find a way around some. Regarding the Oozaru, I followed through on Azure's advice and added an echo effect, I think you'll be pleased with how it sounds now. As for the here and now, thanks to Rene, the trailer is completely finished. All I need is some title splash input from Kino and yourself, Kaboom, then everything's ready to upload. I may end up asking ya' on YIM which music track you prefer, Requiem, or a new combination of two different instrumentals (one Eclipse gave me) for which the final version of the trailer should have. Till then, peace out, and thank God my audio tweaking with the voices is finished~ (<-- Had to do a lot of that. >.>;; )SSj Kaboom wrote:@ Conan Maybe your internet just likes you this week. Have fun with Rene's lines. BTW, do you have a program with which to play around with the voices (like your roaring)? I can link you to a good one later (I'm at school right now). Also, I'll try to be on YIM for a little while this afternoon (up to around 5), but otherwise I'll make sure I am on tomorrow, to see what you want for that title splash page thingy.

Well, guess what it's been you guys? Yep, one week! As of now, I've gotten only one session of instrumental suggestions (from Eclipse) and two title-logo suggestions (from Kino and Kaboom, both of whom are still working on theirs). Tomorrow, as long as Kaboom remembers, I'll have some last minute chatting with him, evidently regarding the title-logo and his input on what instrumental I should go with (Requiem, or a different combination of two others -- one from Eclipse). Kino, hopefully you catch this post, I'd really appreciate it if you can have that title-logo of yours all set and emailed to me by tomorrow afternoon; that way I have two new and awesome ending logos to decide from. Saturday morning at the latest, I want this trailer uploaded to YouTube and MegaUpload, then subsequently given its own thread in the AMV area for everyone here to know of. That's right, the first peek into our fandub project will be up by the end of the week.Conan the SSJ 1 week ago wrote:Semi-update on the trailer; Kirbopher's at last sent me his recording, I did some tweaking with it and implemented it into the trailer editing file. So close to being finished! I also received a couple instrumental suggestions from our own Kino, however, I didn't feel they would do as well as Requiem (I did make sure to give them fair listens). As overused as the Requiem for a Dream instrumental most likely is on the Internet fandom, I'm more than likely sticking with it. Starting today though, you guys have one week to PM me a suggestion for a different instrumental (which, as I've said, has to be in the ballpark length of 4 minutes - 4:20); the same goes for an alternate title card design for the trailer's end. After that, if I don't see anything worth replacing, I'm sticking with what I've come up with. I think I'm being more than fair, I hope you guys agree.
By the way, if anyone thinks I'm rushing this thing...just look here, I was given the job to start the trailer nearly 4 months ago; I hardly think I rushed this.

Sorry I haven't been in touch much Conan; I'll try to get something done for a title tomorrow. What color background you need? Black?

The two Ks, Kino and Kaboom. They requested some extra time with their splash logo suggestions and they're basically why I haven't been able to bring it up. Kaboom told me he'd bring up taking extra time for the trailer posting, but I suppose he was too distracted or something (he did mention he got asked to a prom o.o). Kino's by this point given me her suggestion, which I'm VERY pleased with and am most definitely using if Kaboom's doesn't prove to be superior in my opinion. Kaboom, my friend, you have till tomorrow morning. I really don't want this to come off as harsh or insecure, but if your logo isn't in my email box by 10:30 AM, my trailer's final version is being saved from its master file and being uploaded to YouTube.Eclipse wrote:Well...I'm not really impatient but...what happened to the trailer?

Well, everybody who recorded did a great job.
*NEON LIGHT "APPLAUSE" SIGN*
There are some things, both minor and major, that we'll need to tweak and work on with a few of you, in terms of your voices and delivery, before we get started on recording for the actual movie. We'll get into that later, but regardless, you all still did very well with the trailer. One of it's primary purposes was to get practice recording, after all.
For anyone looking for a decent recording and sound editing program, I've recently stumbled across and recommend Audacity. From the looks of it, it's not only a decent recorder, but you can add some effects, adjust pitch and such, and generally fiddle around with your recordings as well. Plus, it's free (and I don't mean "Trial Period" free).
But of course, the best program in the world means little without potent equipment. From the sounds of it, some of us have less-than-optimal microphones (I'm in the same sinking boat on that lake, lemme tell ya...), and the quality of our recording is suffering somewhat because of it. Provided he's still around, Tenken is up for helping clean up some of the recordings, but we don't wanna overload him more than we have to.
So basically, right now I'm trying to research what makes a decent, affordable microphone. I've got some cheap little KOSS thing, but it sounds pretty good if I clean my recordings up a bit with Audacity. From what I've heard, there are some decent microphones out there, even in the forms of gaming headsets and the like. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Kino, I noticed your Gohan line sounded pretty clear and good; what kind of mic do you use?
Same question to our semi-professionals like Timo and company, and Kirbopher; I know you guys probably own and use some of the more high-end equipment; but what kind of stuff would you recommend for us (literally) poor saps?

Hmm... I think I have that program already. Didn't know you could do that much with it, though. I think I'll go give it a try again and see how well it works compared to ACID XPress (that's what I've been using for my stuff up until now. I can't adjust certain things with just that, so...). o.oSSj Kaboom wrote:For anyone looking for a decent recording and sound editing program, I've recently stumbled across and recommend Audacity. It's nowhere near as amazing as actual professional equipment, I'm sure--and if you can afford a higher-quality mic than this, you should definitely go for that instead--but it's pretty good for the price it's offered for. And it sells for less than ten bucks at your local Wal-Mart. So if you think it'll improve the quality of your recordings any, you have no excuse for not getting it.

I'm going to be PMing Timo about the kind of equipment he and his friends use, so if anyone wants to know what he recommends (if he doesn't post anything about it here, that is), let me know and I'll share the info with you.

Well, the microphone isn't the only thing which is important. All things must have nearly the same good quality:
- Micro
- Soundcard
- Cabels
- Mixer
I have a pretty expensive soundcard which is used by studios (M-Audio Delta Audiophile or something like that). My microphone was pretty cheap. It's a dynamic vocal from Behringer.
Between the soundcard and the micro is my little mixer (Eurorack MX602A).
The whole equipment costs..mhm...maybe 200 - 350€. And that's actally cheap. Most of my friends and colleages have much more expensive microphones.
I think the most important thing (for the beginning) is the soundcard. The microphone can be expensive, but that doesn't matter if the soundcard is a cheesy onboard card. Sure you don't have to buy a studio soundcard for 150$ like me. But onboard is really crap.
Next the configurations. Try a little bit with the windows sound configuration, so that your record volume is clearly audible.
For beginners, I recommend a good desktop microphone from well known companies or an USB micro (I read some positive comments about USB micros).
Yeah..mhm, that's all.
I think a really good and expensive equipment is not worthwhile if you don't plan to go really in (fan)dubbing or something similar. Then look for good standard desktop (or USB) micro and a nice soundcard. That should be enough with the right configuration.

As of now, yeah, that's what we're using. Cha-La for the opening was a given, but we might as well keep the ending theme, too.Magica wrote:Desktop microphones are great:

Now to make this post relevant, what do you plan for the ending theme. Are you just going to keep Marugoto in? I have the full version of Marugoto I got from DaizEX years ago if Mike will allow me to provide it to the main person.
If my trial run of Vegas hadn't run out, it would've looked better.Steven Perry wrote:This, my friends, is sheer awesomeness.![]()

Hey guys; just letting you know I'm not dead.
I'm currently in the process of finishing up school for the semester, which is why I haven't been around as much. But if you still need me I'll be available relatively soon. Just shoot me a PM (or e-mail since I think that's on record somewhere for this project) if you need my attention on something.
That's all for now; looking forward to future developments.

Sorry for the inactivity...
I've had finals, but they're just about over (last week of school... YESH!)
Once that's out of the way, I'll be kicking things back into gear. I'll get the final script out, and I'm still trying to figure out where and how to get an FTP server set up for hosting the footage... @_@
