The best idea probably wouldn't have been aggrandizing Trunks after his appearance in the Android / Cell Arc, both in Xenoverse (where it at least is a grand spinoff video game premise and not something intended to be taken seriously) and in Super.

The problem with the type of Future Trunks pandering going on in Super is that it's sort of extremely transparent.

Come on mate you're overreacting, I still think this arc is great despite Super's flaws and Zamasu along Black are still awesome, it's just infuriating when things were so promising and the episodes ending the arc disappoint, after such an intrigue and refreshing villain character buildup taking such shortcuts and dropping the very little they could have saved story-wise in regard of power levels was a pretty legit letdown, I mean it's like a musician making an awesome solo and botch the last measures on purpose because what the hell, then sadly people will always remember the last wrong notes no matter what was before lol

Nah. The let the character rest of the shelf from now on. Yes, they managed to pull something great out of bringing him back again, but I really want Future Trunks' character to be retired now for good. There's nothing left for them for do with the character or his story that wouldn't feel like a carbon copy of the Android/Cell arc or the Future Trunks arc.

I flip flop on this but yeah, I feel like if you just dropped the whole time travel premise, the Android arc would work significantly better.

It's just frustrating because people don't seem to know what they want. From what I saw on here and YouTube a lot of people didnt want Zamasu to be beaten with the mafuba nor did people want him to be beaten by Zeno because that'd be anticlimactic.

Well he wasn't beaten that way...but it still wasn't good enough.

People did not want Goku to save the day and beat the main villain again. A lot of people wanted Trunks to do that (until very recently and I suppose a lot probably wanted Vegito to aswell).

Well Goku didn't beat the main villain yet again. People had wanted another character to get the spotlight and do that for a change and Trunks did....but that's not good either.

In the last couple months people have been fixated on Vegito being in the series even though it was never guaranteed he would be and not long ago people here thought he might not be in it.

Well Vegito did appear like people really wanted....but he wasn't in it as much as people wanted so that also wasn't good enough.

A lot of people don't like knowing what's going to happen in advance they like a surprise.

Well nobody knew or predicted that Trunks was going to absorb the power of a Spirit Bomb and turn it into a Spirit Blade where he'd then split Zamasu in the middle...but that's not good enough either.
