"In the 67th episode of "Dragon Ball Super," the super villain fusion of Zamasu and Black Goku have almost defeated by Son Goku and Trunks when the latter has suddenly disappeared and started covering the sky. According to Attack of the Fan Boy, Son Goku is about to give up when he found something in his pocket that could possibly be the key to defeating the merged Zamasu and Black Goku."

"Episode 68: According to some reports, Zeno has plans to destruct the two timelines created by Trunks but Son Goku will intervene and pleads to repair the damage caused by Zamasu and Black Goku; however, Zeno will only give in to Son Goku's request when the former and Universe 7 will win in the Omniverse Tournament."

I know we've all thought of this, but I didn't think it would be a route Toriyama would take, assuming this turns out to be true.

But, it does give the tournament real meaning, and an ultimate goal which is something I've been wondering about.

Trunks becoming stronger may have a new purpose it seems, the real one.

Other 'leaks' spoke about Vegeta turning into more like his old self due to how he's ashamed that Trunks surpassed him and his wife already assumed Goku would save everyone. Now if Zeno says the fate of the timelines rests on universe 7 and Trunks, that will piss him off and push him.

"According to reports"
Yeah, no. Somebody is making shit up. We know nothing about episode 68.
The next arc isn't even being announced until December 17th or 18th.

Until we see a scan or something, it's probably best not to read too much into any "reports". Almost all "spoilers" that have come out completely unsourced have turned out to not be true.

Exactly I remember one shitty site had "Vegeta Super Saiyan White confirmed" in their headline. Made me roll my eyes so much!

Nah, are fake. Zeno now is Goku's best friend and pretty sure that we'll never see Trunks again....not in the tournament, anyway.

If this is true then I may actually get my wish for the Timeline reset back to prior Beerus!! We will see :)

In the NEP, it appears Zamasu just disappears into dust right after he splits. Goku even says something like that in the NEP. I think we've basically already seen the very last of Zamasu.

Which if true, seems a little anticlimatic and nonsensical considering he is supposed to still be half immortal. It would also make no sense to just turn to dust.

WSJ preview implied it was like gas and he begins to cover the sky. So he's definitely not gone. Still causing trouble!

It was implied he couldn't heal himself when cut with the spirit sword, he was bleeding out..
His body was already falling apart, when cut in half that was the final straw..

Yeah... yeah. :(
I've voiced my worries about this already. To recap, I seriously hope for a timeskip to EoZ, but I'm worried that Super is stuck in some sort of temporal infinity (I just like this term for time limbo) where things and even entire arcs happen but time doesn't actually pass.
Now that we're on our way out of the Zamasu arc, those worries are beginning to pop up again, because there's no better time to move forwards in time than between arcs, and every time that doesn't happen, the chance of Super being stuck in limbo increases, as it becomes more and more difficult to put it into a proper timeline. Not only when considering EoZ, but also when solely judging Super itself. Even if we discard Bulla (don't you dare), Trunks' age, Goten's age and especially Marron's age have to change soon to present a believable timeline.
All it takes is a few episodes, then we could pass EoZ and start on unrestrained arcs where nothing is held back by a later event having to happen. 67, this arc ends. 68, slice of life episode. 69, Bulla is born. 70, slice of life placed in Age 783-4. 71-73, EoZ redo/recap. 74, the new arc begins. It really could be this simple. It's such an easy thing to take care of, but they just... don't. That's worrisome, and definitely cause for concern about whether or not Super is stuck in temporal infinity.

He probably just took the WSJ preview for episode 67 - which is true - and added a fake summary and ideas to go along with it, people do that.

The Vegeta part is especially doubtful, as he looks pretty pleased while smiling in the last NEP.

The manga is just stuck to Age 779, which looks like Toriyama just wants to stick in that period and play with the characters without having them grow old for now. Toei has months pass between each arc though, which creates inconsistencies because no one grows older when they should.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

The official time of the Future Trunks Saga is 780. That is true in all material. The only timeskip the anime has is that the Champa Saga happened at least eight months after Resurrection 'F' since the Earth's Dragon Balls are activated. There was no time ever given from the time of the Champa Saga and the Future Saga. At best, it was a couple of weeks, not months.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

This. The manga is not stuck to anything. There was a gap of months between BoG and RoF, then another four months. An unspecified jump until the tournament, them both the anime and manga taking place in the same age for the current arc.

Anything else is just futile attempt to pretend the manga is more valid or whatever.

I don't disagree that the anime and manga versions of the Trunks material are likely set in the same AGE, but there's also nothing stated in the manga to provide a proper reference of how much time has passed for almost any of it. So the manga could be in 779 and the anime in 780 if that's what they wanted to roll with. It wouldn't be the first time there was a timeline difference, as the Z anime slipped an extra year into the gap between Freeza and the Artifical Humans, but we all just ignore that.

I feel your pain, but now that i was thinking about it?, what if instead jumping to the end of Z, we have an arc developing things for it?, i mean, we already saw Kid Trunks having some development, which means that he's kinda growing up, now we need to see Goten doing something similar.
Idk how to explain it, but it would be cool to have an arc centered in both of them, actually growing up, and dealing with a problem (and i'm not talking about that garbage of the Copy Vegeta arc).
I really miss ma boy, Black :(

Where was that confirmed?

From the two DBZ movies we got the ages 778 (Battle of Gods) and 779 (Fukkatsu no F). But Super starts with 'some time has passed'.
So they didn't mention how many time passed between the defeat of Buu and the appearance of Beerus. It could be less than a year instead of 4.
And Tarble doesn't exist in Super, in Z he does. For me you have to differ the Super arcs and DBZ movies in 'two different timelines'.

I think that video makes it more clear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l6Q9f1Ym2s

I expect exact ages as soon as Super ends. Because they want to stay within this 10 year gap and probably for a longer time.

I only see one problem: The age of Pan, she would be born way earlier than she should.
