As the first film showed, Storm is a pretty tricky character to write for without making her, well, dreadful. But the second film didn't really help. All the stuff she got to do didn't strike me as an attempt by the writer to write her better. Rather, it came across as "Hallie Big Star. Make Her Do Big Stuff. Important Stuff. Ignore Others."

I didn't find that really. They could have easily done that with the first one, if it was for that reason alone. Let's face it that for the first movie, Famke(I forget her last name now) and the actor that played Scott weren't household names. Nor was Hugh Jackman really. Besides Patrick Stewart and Anna Paquin, she was the best known face amongst the group.

Kodoshin:Some of us were wondering if Viz censored the scene of everyone "flipping the bird" to Cell in the graphic novel version because we know it was edited in Shonen Jump. I remember you mentioning that you have the Graphic Novel that has the image in question.

Actually, it was just in a title page. It had first form Cell giving a sort of peace sign and most of the Z Senshi in chibi form flpping him off. Viz edited it so it just shows them pumping their fist.

Thanks for that, too bad they edited it out (it sounds quite funny) but I guess you can understand why they did it.

B-kun, you should post it in this thread too, so everyone can see it unedited. It's such a great image, (ahem, provided by me by the way. 8) ). Oh, and Cell isn't making the peace sign, it's the victory sign, my silly B-kun. :wink:

There we go. Sorry if it's a bit big for those of y'all with dial-up (like me ._.).

And peace signs and victory signs just look a lot alike. <_<;;;

What are you talking about?! One is having your index and middle finger stick out while the fingers are clenched, and the other is a V shaped by using only your index and middle finger! :P

Why are Kuririn and Goku's boots different colours?

Dayspring, your explanation confuses me. :? And I have no idea why Kuririn's and Goku's boots are different colours.

Why is it called "flipping the bird" anyway? It seems to be a fairly American expression, since most people I know would call it "giving the finger", or "making the 'up yours' sign".

I know suspect that Viz will continue to release these censored so that if and when they release the Kanzeban volumes, they can promote them as "completely uncensored!"

So, what is the final verdict on Viz censorship, or non-censorship? How'd it work out? It hasn't been discussed lately.

Still unclear. Viz is still using things like "blast" and "curse" with startling frequency, but there's been no out-and-out dialogue or visual censorship since the February issue. As I've said before... the big test will come when Mr. Satan appears for the first time. :?

If it says Her-cule instead of Mr. Satan, I'm done.

The hyphen is because of the insane yet appreciated censoring. :-P
