He only looked like that for the ending and so that trunks can be emotional again. The biggest hint we could have had has already gone with him training with Piccolo. He is most likely tired from travelling there as he is that unfit.

I wouldn't read too much into this... I mean, he's so insignificant atm that they didn't even invite him for the farewell party, let alone inform him of Trunks arrival in the first place

Seriously, based on appearance, I have higher hopes for Yamcha.

Episode 70 for Yamcha so he will be more relevant.

I'm not holding out much hope for Gohan making a comeback in Super. They've dropped to many red herring about Gohan becoming stronger that I'm not really buying it Gohan becoming a major character in the show.

Well, he's training with Piccolo. That's all we were hinted, really.

We can hope he plays a big role in one of subsequent arcs, but I'd temper my expectations.

Why does everyone want him to be powerful again as we already have two Super Saiyan Blues we don't need anymore.

How do you know he is training anyway.

Yes I want a 15-16 year time skip that puts pan at the age of between 16-17 that would be awesome SSJ Female anyone?? :D

If everyone gathers around and chants, "My boy, Gohan," "Mah boy, Gohan," and "MY boi, Gohan," over and over again for a few hours each day, I imagine meme magic will work their way into the writers and it will posses them to bring these dreams into reality.

#Make Gohan Great again is actually a handle on twitter, youtube, and reddit.

Gohan will be powered up the same way Future Trunks was. I also fully expect Super Saiyan Blue so they have more toys/videogame merch to sell with the new Saiyan form. It will happen.

#My boy Gohan

#Make Gohan great again

Its happening, I can feel it. It might not be the very next arc, but it will eventually.
Hahahaha, you wish, but the fact is they used Gohan for emotional fodder for Trunks's depart.

Seriously guys..
Some of the things said here are so negative and sad it's bizzare..
You guys seem like you have lost all hope.. you do not know what is going to happen yet you take what is right now as the ultimate truth..

When I watched that episode I was happy as a little kid now after reading this it all seems pointless..
For me there is still hope until the very last episode of super.. enjoying it without being so critical is a lot more fun..

And as said, with Future Trunks gone from the anime now they'll need another Saiyan to market outside of Goku/Vegeta. Its the same reason Vegito got 10 minutes of screentime, for toys and videogame merch.

Gohan getting the spotlight again is going to happen eventually. They need to keep shilling the Saiyans.

The only thing you can really say was 100% a hint was what happened in Super's version of Resurrection 'F'. Where he says "I should have been training", and "I realised to protect the people close to me, I need to get stronger". And I guess him in Episode 30, because it was a continuation of that. A few things in the Future Trunks arc could be taken as other hints, but for as many hints as there seemingly were, there were also lines like Piccolo saying "He's a scholar now and distanced himself from martial arts". It's why saying Toei is still hinting at something isn't completely true.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Lost hope? I'm perfectly fine with him having been tossed away.

Gohan will become Super Saiyan White. 8)
His mystic powers + God Ki. He just needs to stop training with Piccolo and get someone that will make him reach new heights.

Piccolo should just go look for the Namekian Book of Legends and get a power up from there.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

After thinking about this I came up with something..

At this point hasn't toriyama moved way ahead with stories,as the future trunks arc was written quit earlier..
Toie hasn't stopped giving hints about gohan.. they know more than we do what's going to happen..

Either they have plans regarding him or are just making Gohan fans happy..
What do you guys think is the case here?

This has been kinda answered by others and myself already in this very thread. I'll quote myself: Hahahaha, you wish, but the fact is they used Gohan for emotional fodder for Trunks's depart.

So maybe it was to make Gohan fans happy but I think it's more to get an emotional impact from it on the viewers.

Err no. He's in his work clothes. Piccolo likely went to go get him. Last time he was training with Piccolo he was in his tracksuit.
