A few questions about DB music CDs and DVD box sets

Post by koden » Sat May 08, 2004 4:14 am

Hi - I have a few ?s about Dragon Ball music CDs and DVD box sets that I figured I'd just include all together in this one post, which I hope someone can answer for me -

I really like to collect DB CDs since I love DB music but the only ones I have are bootlegs, unfortunately... seeing as how I'm not very knowledgeable about this subject, could someone please tell me where you can buy the official DB CDs?
I'd rather have the original version of a CD over its bootleg version but I'm just concerned with how much they cost, since I can't afford to pay $25 or more for a single CD.

And now on to my next question:

I know that the rest of the Freeza saga starting with episode #54 is already out on individual and bilingual DVDs, but I was just wondering if anyone would happen to know if the episodes I'm talking about will ever be released all together in a DVD box set?
I've seen them available in a boxed VHS set but the Japanese version isn't included and that's what I really want to see... I could try to buy the individual DVDs for the remaining part of the Freeza saga but I'd probably want to wait on that if I knew a DVD box set would be made that'd have everything I'm looking for in it.

Any help is great :)

Okay so your question about DB CDs. The place to go to get the authentic Japanese releases is CDJapan.
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/

There is also AmazonJapan and you can ask SaiyaJedi(Julian) if you need help translating the ordering page.

Except that you have to accept that you'll find yourself paying at least $40 US for them. I'm afraid high price is always a factor when you're dealing with imports. For a cheaper alternative I suggest looking on E-bay under "DBZ". I have been able to find genuine import DB CDs there for sale at cheap prices. Just watch for one company called GKWorld, who are always auctioning on E-bay, all of the DB CDs that they sell are bootlegs. As for the Freeza saga DVD question, I think that there is no doubt that Funi will likely offer a boxed set in the future. Anyway, good luck with your CD search and let me know if you're still having trouble. I'll see what else I can do.^_^

from what I understand, the Captain Ginyu, Frieza, and Trunks sagas are getting Re-authored before they do Boxed set releases of them. Simply cause it'd be easier to make a new master and work from there than use the one they currently have.

Dunno how long it'll take. If you're patient though...

Hold on a second; so their going to re-release those 3 sagas? I'm glad I held off buying the Ginyu and Freeza DVD's now, but does that mean my Trunks DVD's will be inferior? :(

I can understand redoing the Trunks and Captain Ginyu ones, but the Freezer ones? Weren't they done quite late? Around the time of the World Tournament stuff? They have the new-ish font on them, and small splash, don't they?

From what I remember. it's simply because its cheaper to do new masters than to use old ones. Also, more efficient.

Your trunks DVDs wont be inferior or anything because no new audio or video improvements will be on the discs.

Are they going to stick the eyecatches back on? And play the opening and closing themes around every episode?

If they do that, they should also redo the World Tournament and Androids episodes. Unless they were secretly "corrected" already.

Well, that would be neat, anyway.

I've got no idea if the Tournament and Androids DVDs are redone. But yeah, I woiuld imagine the OP and junk will be on each episode now.

However, Japanese Eye-catchers won't be there.

As it is, my french ebay swine has not bought the Dragonbox. I am once again stuck with the prospect of having something I can not complete. Not only that, I'm also afraid that somehow, the US release of DBZ is going to change at some point. Constant Delays despite the R2s being out for around a year or so, it just... doesn't make me feel too good.

At all.

No problem^_^ and ya I'd just go with the CD Box Sets that have just come out. I'm collecting as well. At least that way you'll get more of your money's worth. Don't worry about messing up on buying that bootleg, it happened to me as well when I bought some of the Hit Collection CDs, and didn't know that much about bootlegs either.
