Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I was late for the Goku assholeingtung discussion...
Uncle Scrooge put Donald Duck, and all the world, in crisis just to gather money.
No one seems to care 'cause it's pertinent to a fictional universe. Morally speaking, Disney is deprecable. As toon, it work perfectly as MORALE IS NOT A TOPIC OF THE STORY. it never put morality in the plot, so everytime Scrooge enslave people it's totally fine.
Goku story: a guy that love to improve on martial arts that face strong fighters.
All morality is left behind. It's not touched or discussed.
To show how strong are villains, they do evil big feats, but just for the audience to be aware of the power levels.
Iit's again and again an inner struggle and a battle of will.
IT'S A SHONEN.
Not a superhero story.
So it's legit to:
spare an honourable foe even if evil
raise the stakes to get a greater challenge
see foes as challenges instead of dangers
Bushido my friends, bushido.

The only training sequence we even saw between Trunks and Vegeta was in Ep 54 when SSJB Vegeta was basically curbstomping Trunks. How does that even make Trunks who was originally weaker than SSJ3 Goku (maybe even weaker than SSJ2 Goku) to SSJB tier where Trunks can fend off against SSJR Black and even Immortal Zamasu?HeroR wrote:Trunks trained with Vegeta, and Vegeta did the same thing with Cabba, saying he can reached this form with training. Hinting that you can reached the form by training if you know what you're aiming for.OLKv3 wrote:And there lies the problem. god ki isn't supposed to be just some random rage powerup. God Ki had 2 movies explaining how special it is. Trunks just gets it just because, no training or nothing, he sees it and suddenly he has it. Vegeta had to train with an angel to use it. Goku had to use a ritual and train with an angel. Trunks just gets itzamasu121 wrote:
its most likely that he unlocked god ki, or so it seems like going by his aura
Comparing this to SSJ3 is not only silly, but an obvious attempt to bash DBZ as if that would nullify a flaw of Super. A flaw that could be fixed easily if they just made any half assed explanation. Give us something!

See, I disagree with pretty much all of your post, but since I don't feel like typing a huge wall of text right now, I'll just highlight this:
These two things aren't mutually exclusive. Boku no Hero Academia for instance is quite literally a shonen and a superhero story.ChronoTwigger wrote: IT'S A SHONEN.

From what Bulma said, more training happened off-screen, because she talked about Trunks taking a nap back in Episode 55 because he exhausted himself. And Trunks only became as strong as Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta after he got his new transformation. Although he did okay in Episode 57, his performance in Episode 61 was noticeably lackluster to the point that Goku and Vegeta needed to protect him. Suggesting that his performance in Episode 57 was done purely on rage and Future Zamasu being an idiot who keep dropping his guard because he's an immortal, something both Trunks and Goku notes as a flaw about Future Zamasu.Freeza9000 wrote:

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
We'll have to see how the manga handles Future Trunks power level in the upcoming Black and Future Zamasu fight, the manga has already shown that Full Power SSJ2 Future Trunks is on par with SSJ3 Goku, and later it was briefly shown that Vegeta was training him in the gravity room, presumably more training took place off screen. Although just like with the anime, I'm disappointed that the Room of Spirit and Time wasn't used for Future Trunks(it seems he wasn't even told about the 2 day limit being removed), because any major power boost he got in the upcoming fight would made more sense that way. Meeting the Old Kai, and finding out he was in the Z-Sword, and then going through the Potential Unleashed ritual(Ultimate Future Trunks w/ enhanced SSJ and SSJ2 forms), would've also worked.

Uhh, Bulma only said that Trunks was taking a nap after the "training" he received when SSJB Vegeta was curbstomping him. No where in Ep 55 does it imply that more off screen training happened. And I wonder how Trunks's new transformation even elevates Trunks to being SSJB level.HeroR wrote:From what Bulma said, more training happened off-screen, because she talked about Trunks taking a nap back in Episode 55 because he exhausted himself. Eurgh. I don't it's absolutely tacky. Feels like most of the time it's like a dick measuring contest between Toei and Toyo in who can do the most/best DB refrences.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Love how the manga makes these references

That is mostly the fandom's fault for having the anime vs. the manga, and whose the 'true' fan.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Eurgh. I don't it's absolutely tacky. This is more of an easter egg than a homage though so I'm perfectly fine with it.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Eurgh. I don't it's absolutely tacky. Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!Jinzoningen MULE wrote: Maybe I should start making it a point not to comment when I'm not sure of something. Too many people know what they're talking about around here.
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

How it's it the fandoms fault when even this site gives preference to the original manga over the anime? After one side of the fandom snubbing people because they didn't read the manga what did people really expect was going to happen?HeroR wrote:That is mostly the fandom's fault for having the anime vs. the manga, and whose the 'true' fan.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Eurgh. Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
He's talking about Super.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I know what he's talking about, but the entire fandom has been conditioned for decades to think a certain way due to people throwing around the terms "canon", "filler", "dub" to reduce or counter an aspect they deem questionable from another DragonBall production. My point is, realistically, when you've been having these debates for years why wouldn't carry over and permeate to all aspects of the franchise. Just look at the number of "canon" threads on this site alone.alakazam^ wrote:He's talking about Super.

Gah, I popped in to see if more of this had been revealed. So small, but looks great! This comes with the BoG chapters-volume-thing, right? Might have to buy it just to get the poster...Baggie_Saiyan wrote:A (small) look at that (great) poster in colour! Hope someone scans the actual one.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Sorry for the double post.
I suppose that without Trunks, the whole gang wouldn't have gathered with aroused suspicions in the first place. Zuno tells Kibito, and Kaioshin would eventually go with Kibito to speak with Gowasu. Zamasu has to either come up with some excuse, beg for Gowasu's forgiveness, or take on all 3 shinjin at once. That might work out okay, but if Kaioshin asks Goku (who might potentially be training with Whis) if he knows anything about Zamasu....then it'd be much more difficult for him to get away with it.
Also, wouldn't the timeline have split the moment Trunks came to the past with knowledge of a time traveler, rather than the moment Beerus kills Zamasu?
That's...a good point. I think it's safe to assume that Zuno would have told Kibito about Zamasu regardless of Trunks' arrival from the future, so it kind of makes me wonder how Goku Black succeeded in the first place.Noah wrote:Why not have Zamasu killing Zuno for the sake of not having any witnesses?

Does anyone know if Toyotaro has a Twitter or Facebook? Any type of social media?
