Was discussing the latest episode of Super with another fan about Pan's fever and he wondered why they needed Shenlong to heal her when they have the senzu beans. I replied to him saying senzu beans heals injuries, but not illness and I used Goku's heart virus as an example when it didn't work and needed a special medicine to cure it.
But then it hit me... are senzu beans really useless when it comes to illness? We know it fills you with energy equivalent of eating for 10 days and it heals physical injuries, but it can't cure internal sickness? If you had a cold, it won't heal you? What about cancer? Can it heal it or make the tumor worse?

It's altogether likely that all senzu would do would restore any damage caused by the illness, but wouldn't be able to kill the infection itself.
