Why didn't Kami have Goku find Piccolo Jr. before the tournament?

I guess I'm just not understanding why Goku and Kami didn't find Piccolo Jr when he was a kid and take him out then, as opposed to waiting three years for the tournament. I know Goku loves a good fight and a good rival but one would think Kami would want to eliminate the threat as soon as possible. I'm also confused as to why Piccolo would wait for the tournament to even fight Goku, but hey, that's shonen for ya.

Well Piccolo needed the three years to get stronger. He fought Goku once and lost, obviously. Although why Kami let him run free for three years? Probably because he wasn't technically guilty of anything yet, with it being stated that he committed zero murders during those three years.

Okay, I can see that point, with Piccolo needing to train. And yeah, Piccolo didn't do anyhing yet, but you'd think God would want to be preemptive lol. Even if he'd end up dying in the process, as him and Piccolo are one being.

Not sure if Kami and Piccolo's lifespans being connected was a factor too. If they eliminated Piccolo Jr, Kami would disappear. Goku seemed to know that during the tournament if I recall.

So perhaps Kami himself needed the three years to learn the Mafuba and then find a way to perform it without dying. Ten learned it quickly, but he saw Roshi perform it. We can assume Kami didn't and just had to figure it out from scratch. Kind of weak but at least it's something.

Kami will never do anything preemptive like that. Even the #17 and #18 situation, he said that the Z Fighters were the ones who instigated the fight and that both androids have not done anything wrong yet

It probably would have been the smart decision, but I guess he didn't want to get himself killed, he was probably banking on being able to seal Piccolo away.
