Was Frieza Training to be a God of Destruction?
Not only did Beerus commission Frieza to destroy planet vegeta, but he seemingly tapped into some form of God ki with his Golden Frieza form. Any other evidence to support thus theory?

I believe for one second that Freeza gave two fucking shits about becoming a God of Destruction. He just wanted to kill Goku and that was the main reason he grinded as hard as he did in the four months of training.

As tantalizing as that sounds since Freeza is one of my favorite characters, I highly doubt he was trying to become the God of Destruction. I mean, his primary reason in training earnestly in order to reach his potential is to defeat Goku and reclaim his role as the Emperor of the Universe. He also didn't even think of trying to overcome Beerus considering his fearful reaction when he saw Beerus and Whis eating the sundae.

No evidence about Freeza tapping into a god ki, he just unleashed his dormant power, which just took four months, more than enough to make him stronger than a SSB (god ki plus years of training).
Toriyama just intended to make it clear that he is the most talented/powerful fighter/race in the universe aside from Beerus and co.(Gods,Angels and Omniking).

So what I am talking about is before he even went to namek. His purpose in wanting to become immortal, his backroom deals to destroy planets from beerus, his godlike aura and his ability to sense gokus God ki.

Freeza's a moron. If he got that strong after 4 months of training, why didn't he train at least a bit throughout his life? He would have been the undisputed superpower of the Universe.Lord Beerus wrote:I believe for one second that Freeza gave two fucking shits about becoming a God of Destruction. And speaking of that horrific R of F arc, if Freeza trained for a year instead of 4 months, he could have easily wiped out Goku and Vegeta in their blue forms.
I don't know what annoys me more, the lazy writing to give Freeza a major power boost, or the laziness of Freeza himself.

Agreed - and the very fact that he actually feared that Beerus might intervene in his fight against Goku, and openly questioned that, suggests that Freeza wouldn't have challenged him.Freeza9000 wrote:As tantalizing as that sounds since Freeza is one of my favorite characters, I highly doubt he was trying to become the God of Destruction. Freeza wasn't moron, well kinda was, but it was more to do with complacency. He sat at the top of the food for so long, that he never even needed to transformed beyond his first form. And because of this, he had created this mentality where didn't think he would need to train, because what's the point? He was already untouchable as it was.omaro34 wrote:Freeza's a moron. I'm probably the only person in the world who doesn't mind the whole "4 months of training to reached God tier" plot device that Freeza was given. I mean, Freeza created three forms just suppress the immense amount of power he was naturally born with. He was established as a freak of nature with an insane of power from the get go, so the the hypothetical idea of Freeza getting much stronger in just a few months isn't so far fetched.

Re: Was Frieza Training to be a God of Destruction?
The only reason why Freeza's power boost in the R of F Arc annoyed me because they only did it just so Freeza can be as powerful as our heroes. Dragonball is notorious for allowing its villains to be strong during their respective arcs, and it reeked lazy writing, although I could understand where you're coming from and I respect your opinion.Lord Beerus wrote:Freeza wasn't moron, well kinda was, but it was more to do with complacency. Speaking of power boosts, you and I share the same opinion on Vegeta attaining SS blue. It pissed me off because it literally came out of nowhere.
But to be honest, given the prodigy Freeza was, if he wanted, his strength could have easily lead him to becoming a God of Destruction. Imagine a prodigy like Freeza training with Whis for the same amount of time Beerus was training under Whis. I mean, we are talking millions and millions of years bro, and he got ridiculously stronger after just 4 months.
