So far what Bilis mentioned & Dragon Ball Online is pretty much close to what I want. An expansive Action RPG/Adventure game with Budokai-esque cutscenes.

Never happen, though. I foresee nothing but fighting games.
Ditto to that, it would be great to see a DB RPG, i agree with the subplot thing too, we've seen the same story many times.

Products are made when there is enough demand to make a profit... the companies involved may screw up from time to time, but they'll catch on soon enough. Well, eventually... whether or not it's soon enough will be up to us to decide.

And if not... umm... who's up for learning Java3d? :p

I want a non cannon Dragonball z rpg.

Here is what I see. You play as either Saiyan , Human , Namekian (if that's right word) and a few other races.

I want to create my own character and play it in a Marrowind type rpgs. If I make a decision to kill someone instead of helping them I want my character to become evil.

I want it so you can fly around universe exploring different planets and meeting up with famous DBZ characters. Set it after Z but before GT. Have it so if you die you don't just re spawn but you have to earn live in the other world.

Other world missions can be - Snake way and things like stop cell , frieza and other old villains from creating trouble in hell.

My idea is NOT an online game so if you play as a saiyan you could just be another one that escaped with out having 10000 saiyans walking around.

SSJ - this should be very hard to reach and only possible if you complete a quest that is very hard.

The game is open ended and there are good guys and bad guys to fight along the way. If you are good then I think you should fight past villains and a lot of new ones. However become evil and the Z fighters try to stop you and new heroes

Dragon balls - this is the hardest thing in an open ended game but 7 different quests all very hard. you can then wish for improved health , new clothes ect.... and can only collect once per year on game

each next gen consoles gets 1 exclusive feature

Xbox 360 - a new planet with a new enemy that destroys it like frieza to namek (shows off 360's graphics)

ps3 - a Nimbus cloud to use tilt control on to steer

wii - sword like trunks had so you use wiimote to slash

When people say they want a RPG, do you want turn-based combat or realtime/action based combat?

Becuase to be honest I thing Dragonball ,atleast to me, seems to tranlate to turn-based.

Good question.

Both have their ups and downs but I think i'll go with realtime/action so fighting is similar to Budokai tenkishu and the best IMO of doing it. Dragonball Z rpg to me should be like the show. It's not so much tb as who can do the move faster.

This very question has been on my mind as recently as today... :D.

In the RPGs I've attempted to make for DBZ, I've gone with turn-based with a realtime-ish interface... although that doesn't work since what I've got is really freaking slow on not this computer (and probably this one now that it's spyware'd... :(. ).

Basically, I'd go turn-based, but with controls more like real time games so that you can have a DBZ-paced battle without clutter on the screen and such... without going into a lot of detail on what I've got in mind, you'd have your generic attack/defend/charge/blast, motion, item-ness, and whatever techniques are available... and you basically input a command or sequence or whatever... if you pace it right, it will play just like realtime, but if ever you stop, staring matches ensue.

... I hope I didn't just ramble needlessly.

Bleh, I've been thinking about this all morning... I should terminate it for the day with this post so I can actually pass classes...

Maybe something like in Kingdom Hearts? Where while you're using normal attacks you can go through the attack menu and access more powerful techniques. And at specific points, you can do a terrain specific attack?

Attack menus and I tend to disagree, although that sounds like it could work... terrain specific attacks in a DBZ game could be both awesome and depth-adding... :D

Yeah, I think a battle system like in Kingdom Hearts could work. Attacking would be basic punching and kicking, and scrolling through menu's could help you use Kamehameha/etc and items. And reaction commands would be awesome.

And for the record, Kingdom Hearts pwns and I want Final Mix+ in the states.

I actually want more portable DB games (not that it would make a lot of sense since my newest portable is a GBA), but dang it, where are the Webfoot games? Where is a sequel to Advanced Adventure?

I think we'll see a new sparking game with a create a character option yes I know the idea will mean thousands of fan characters actually being used but it will also mean that they can put in less known characters more easily allowing you to fight numerous minor characters from the entire series.

Goodness, tell me what it says on this cover:

It's bad enough we have to endure that with AOL video reviews. And on that note, my random quote of the year - "Sparkle for me, Moon-Shine, 'cause we're gonna get down and funky in our sparkling trailer!" :P

I think I talked about this in my very first post and thread here, haha. There should be some sort of Collection for the older games. Everyone's into the whole retro things these days so why not throw a bunch of games that we'd never get her in one disk? I was thinking the Famicom and Super Famicom fighters and RPGs should be re-released for the DS with new features.

There's plenty of older games that can be tweaked for people to enjoy these days. We should take a brake from newer DB games we're getting now because they're pretty lame.. I still think the Butodens are better than the Budokais and Sparking/Sparkling/whatever games. I'm not a "GFX whore" either, I just appreciate older games that are better than the more expensive crap we get now.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Every time I see that image I think of that one edit done (I forget if it was on this board; I don't visit many others so it must be) where someone photoshopped a hoagie into Tenshinhan's hands. XD

Anyway, what I'd like to see is that storyline with young Goku time travelling to the Z era that Budokai 3 scrapped halfway through. It seemed really interesting to me.

And I still want to be able to play as Bulma.
On hiatus.

I was just about to say: "This cover says Tenshinhan wants a hoagie!" ^^

Since a few people have mentioned it, I believe it was Steven Perry that was responsible for this one:

KIKO HOOOOOOOAGIE!!

Ahem . . . back on topic, yes?

Yeah. The Japanese sure know their stuff where DBZ game covers go ... while Atari knows next to crap.
"Destiny"... people claim by force what they desire, wreak havoc upon others in order to acquire it... and they call it "destiny".
