Current state of the Toonami Asia English dub?

I honestly can't see the UK getting Bang Zoom over Funimation, particularly where home releases are concerned. So far Manga UK have released everything in Funimation dub, including the hugely successful Resurrection F Theatrical run. Suddenly changing to a completely different dub when Funimation's dub is right around the corner would likely result in heavy backlash. I for one would import Funimation's release if that turned out to be the case.

Since Asia has already licensed the first 52 episodes, FUNimation can't really stop the dubbing of those episodes but I could honestly see FUNimation "convincing" Toei not to let them dub any further. I wouldn't be surprised if FUNimation was left in the dark about this until the big announcement, and probably for good reason. This will probably cause slight tension between FUNimation and Bang Zoom, since after all, FUNimation made DBZ what it is in the US and Bang Zoom (up to this point) hasn't had anything to do with the series. Sure, this dub is meant to be exclusive to SEA, but in the slim chance it's actually archived online for everyone to see, I doubt FUNimation likes the idea of two professional English dubs floating around. Yes, I know we have had Canadian dubs before, but in this situation, it's another US dubbing studio which is a competitor with FUNimation, probably making the sting a whole lot worse.

So I honestly believe FUNimation will, and have probably already begun trying to, convince Toei to not let Asia outsource anymore episodes of Super past 52 to Bang Zoom. I could be overthinking this, but I can't see a situation where FUNimation would be happy about this.

Yeah I think at that point they'll probably switch over. No point paying to dub when FUNi already are anyway.

Even if they were to be online illegally or legally. I don't think it's gonna affect FUNi anyway main dub fans loves them and won't take a non FUNi dub for an answer so they're gonna be fine. Both should be airing similar times so it probably won't matter anyway.

Ever heard of accent neutrailty? Maybe that's the reason Toei wanted a "international english" dub.
As far as I know, Funi's studios don't do work-for-hire. They just dub what the company is licensing, or I'm wrong?
Funi doesn't need to convince Toei to stop the dub, they just have to ask YT to region-block the videos. LIke Viz does with their properties.

FUNimation definitely knew before the announcement. Toei would have disclosed to them during the licensing negotiations and drafting of the contracts that certain territories were already covered. I don't know if Toei necessarily disclosed that it was Bang-Zoom doing the other dub, but there's absolutely no way FUNimation would not have been informed by Toei about another English dub.

Nope, this is being produced by Bang-Zoom Entertainment, one of the two mainstay anime dubbing studios of Los Angeles (the other being Studiopolis).

Vanguard is done at Blue Water in Canada, this is Bang Zoom in LA. At lot of anime, such as Sword Art Online, Eureka Seven, and Toradora are done there.

I agree. Though CSC Media's Kix! & PoP channels (owned by Sony) aired 1-98 of Kai 2 or so years back, and currently show the latest Series of Power Rangers (which is quite violent for a kids show) could be one of the only networks that may be interested.
Only other one is Nickelodeon - jointly owned by Viacom & Sky UK (who aired both BoG & "F" on Sky Cinema recently) may just take it.
I also think Disney XD could work, but I doubt very much we'll see it on UK TV anyway.
Ridiculous, and sorry state of affairs to be honest.

I just hope, that if we do (by way of a miracle) get the Series on TV here in the UK, it is the Funimation dub.

UK broadcasters can try but at this stage they are only fooling themselves. Considering Dragon Ball Super is a niche product in the grand scheme of things and kids can watch Star Wars (even Rebels has its moments) or Marvel content and turn out fine it is almost embarrassing they think the former is too extreme.

I have no doubt at all Bang Zoom will produce a quality dub. Actors like Steve Blum are top drawer.
For me, Funimation are the best, and their actors are established in their Dragon Ball roles, and I don't want to watch another dub, I don't need to (just my personal opinion and preference).

I think it is a case of ignorance as to why they don't currently want to take it.

Not that I think it really matters at the end of the day since edits are a thing, but Power Rangers is in no way more violent than Super. I mean if memory serves, the Black arc has Vegeta being impaled right through the chest, with the moment (and pain) being dwelled on. It even ends with blood spurting from his mouth. Granted it's with a ki/energy blade but still, I'd imagine they'd have one hell of tough time getting that past daytime kids TV without at least some edits being done. Star Wars does get away with similar lightsaber deaths but from what I've seen all of their kills tend to be portrayed in an overly merciful or quick fashion without much pain or blood on display, it's all kept pretty mild. Plus at the end of the day a big money maker like Star Wars can probably get away with far more than any niche anime could. DB would likely be kept on a much tighter leash for fear of being kicked off the air. Anyway, the point is that Power Rangers never even approaches that level of violence, especially not on humans. The most you'll get there is a few punches and kicks with mild weapon use that merely produces sparks and explosions instead of blood or injuries.

Aside from violence though, I could see potential other reasons for them avoiding Dragonball in this day and age. A show like Super probably wouldn't fit in line with the current agenda most channels seem to have now which is to be as inclusive as possible in the portrayal of different genders and races. Since there are no ethnic or female fighters in Super that would probably be an immediate red flag for them to pass on the show unless it was guaranteed to make them huge amounts of cash, like with the toy sellers (Yugioh, Pokemon, Beyblade and all the rest of it). That's just my guess.
