Maybe it means their voice actors will be the same as the voice actors once used for those three versions of Flash? That's the only guess I can conjure up at the moment.Theophrastus wrote:I have no idea if them using those specific names to (probably) hide whoever's actually voicing those characters means anything, but I wanted to call attention to it.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I've stated before that I think Eric Vale has quite a similar voice to Kusao. He's done quite kiddish stuff before, & it's not like similar-voiced actors dont do their kid/adult voices. Hell, in just anime we have Sasuke, Naruto, & essentially everyone else in that show, moreso in the dub but also in Japanese. Ryo Horikawa has a deeper voice than Kusao, & does young Vegeta as well. There's just not as much complaint about it because language barrier (& also it works mostly fine)Bansho64 wrote:Eh, I disagree. The concept itself of a man playing the adult and child versions of the character the he is voicing is something that I can see happening in English. As long as he's got the range. Now, for Eric Vale doing it, I can see the uncertainty of it. I'm not sure if he's got the range for something like that. Takeshi Kusao does, so it works. It's dependent on the actor himself, rather than the langauge.Cure Dragon 255 wrote: EDIT:NO! Please not that! I love Japanese Kid Trunks but that just wont work in English!
As wildly implausible as that is, you are absolutely adorable.Anime Kitten wrote:Maybe it means their voice actors will be the same as the voice actors once used for those three versions of Flash? So uh
About those fake names
Call it a long shot, but isn't Team Four Star based in Texas now?
And pretty friendly with most of DBZ's cast?
Hell Kaiser was in Resurrection F, and Taka's been in both Xenoverses, complete with rewritten lines
What are the chances it's them?

Is the cast for for Kai the same as in Super? Feel like I remember seeing different VA's for certain characters in Super's cast list.

There's probably others but I've never been good with memorizing casts so I can't tell you who

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
FUNi wouldn't risk it. So long as TeamFourStar is producing DBZA, it's too much of a risk to involve them in any official DB dub. FUNi likes them, but they wouldn't risk the integrity of their business, and biggest license, on having them cameo.AzuraRacon wrote:So uh

They had one in Freeza movie and FUNi have incorporated them in other dubs too.jelleline89 wrote:FUNi wouldn't risk it. Well I never knew he was in that, so no need to be rude about it. Another user said it in much friendlier terms.AzuraRacon wrote:So did I just imagine Kaiser in Resurrection F then or?jelleline89 wrote:FUNi wouldn't risk it. And to be fair, there's no mention of Resurrection F on his BTVA page:
http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Scott-Frerichs/
And from a quick Google search, I can't find anything that actually confirms who he played in Resurrection F. It's all speculation.

I mean I wouldn't exactly call TFS doing the fake cell games scene integrity-risking
It's a throw-away joke scene and i honestly think having their voices in it would be perfect

Well if it wasn't integrity-risking, why use obviously fake aliases? There's obviously some fear going into this, or the TFS guys would be shouting this from the rooftops just like the other actors and actresses that have been announced.AzuraRacon wrote:I mean I wouldn't exactly call TFS doing the fake cell games scene integrity-risking

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Gotta say my favorite part about this announcement is finally being able to discuss and consider what they could do with the dub without having the nagging fear of "what if we don't find out for years" in the back of my mind

I honestly don't think they'd want this kind of surprise spoiled in the event it is them
Which is odd to say in a discussion about the possibility of it being them but still

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
And to clear up who kaiser played, he was the Frieza soldier who apologized right before Frieza killed them all
It's was kind of a bit part but not many Frieza soldiers got lines, and so are the fake Satan, Cell, Goku, Vegeta, etc

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So, with the speculation done, we can look forward to a surprising dual airing of Buu Kai & Super. Weird.
But, then again, Dragon Ball was aired alongside DBZ back in the day.
Bring it on!

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I don't mind Buu airing once a week cause it's over but Super ? it's going to take forever to catch up to where it is in Japan.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Finally! I knew it didn't make any sense for them to just cancel this, especially when all signs were pointing towards a Toonami debut. And honestly, this almost doesn't feel real. After waiting for it for so long, and being disappointed as every single convention went by without an announcement, this all kind of feels like a dream. This is how I feel right now. I'm also getting flashbacks to DBZ & DB airing back to back on Toonami from way back in the day. Oh and, those 11 minutes in between the Super and Kai announcements were sheer terror
My feeling is not quite the same as yours since Kai wasn't part of my childhood. The most analogous thing I can think of is me waiting for "Season 3" of the original DBZ dub on Toonami between 1998 and 1999....but still, I didn't have to wait 5 years for that so it's nothing compared to what you've endured haha. For me, as much as I love the original Z dub (with all its tonal, musical, acting, & dialogue differences), Kai was a chance for me to watch a version of the show that was really close to the source material. And what started out as a mere curiosity turned into a totally refreshing experience. So yeah, I can't wait to finally watch an accurately dubbed Buu arc.Bansho64 wrote:Guys, I know it might be just a TV show to some, but this really means a lot to me. I've been waiting for this since I was 10-11 and having this particular version of a show that I love come back on TV.....it hits me more on a personal level because of all the awesome times that I had watching it. Anyone else here feel the same?
So since the official announcement has been made, I gotta ask: did you also know about Super being on Toonami?Geekdom101 wrote:Final Chapters in January... announced in December.
