Was Kaioshin power hungry or something?

Post by Dayspring » Fri May 18, 2007 3:57 pm

Why didn't Kaioshin ever promote anyone to take over the other Kaioshin's positions? There were at least 15 generations of Kaioshins headed by a Dai Kaioshin until Boo killed off the most current Kaioshins and Dai Kaioshin. In the millions of years that passed, however, all the Eastern Kaioshin did was appoint Kibito as his assistant. Wouldn't it have made more sense for him to assume the position of Dai Kaioshin, and appoint Kibito and three other members of the Kaioshin race as replacements for the four Kaioshin positions?

Easy, he couldn't. The inner circle had been poisoned by corruption and Kaioshin was manipulated into slaughtering the other members. In the end, he refused to sacrifice himself and instead became the monarch of a damned world.

...no, wait. That's Legacy of Kain. Shit, I dunno.

Maybe the Kaioshin were all from a certain race, and the best and most noble of them became the Kaioshin. I would guess that the others got eradicated by Buu, and Kibito was left.
Maybe Kibito wasn't promoted because of that he was kind of a bodyguard for Kaioshin.

Maybe maybe.

Maybe the different Kais aren't appointed, they could be born as whatever rank they are. Thus he can't appoint anyone and has to wait for the next generation of Kaioshin to come along on its own.

Or maybe there aren't enough Kais to appoint new ones. The only ones we see are the four lower Kais, the Grand Kai, and him. It's debatable if Kibito's even a Kai.

The whole idea of Kaioshin generations is somewhat confusing in itself... other than catachlisms like Buu and crazy-powerful mazoku, what conditions result in the passing of a generation? Meh...

Though, maybe there just weren't any of the Kaios ready to ascend after Buu... all... the way... to the end of Z... (I.E, Toriyama didn't think of it until it was too late... ^^).

I really need to get back to writing fanfiction on a regular basis... bases? ... Yeah.

Meh, I want to find a post from an old thread about the duties of the Kaioshin Vs Kaio, as there was a somewhat related post or two in there. ::shrug::

I like your first suggestion but disagree with the second. He looks more similar to a Kaioshin than the four Kaios and Grand Kaio do. Plus he's got the same uniform as Kaioshin, wears Potara earrings, and looks just as ashamed as Kaioshin does when Rou Kaioshin says he was expecting a fellow Kaioshin to release him from the Z Sword.

Grand Kai was fused with a witch.

All kai's look like elves so I think that they can't just pass their position on to someone.

I meant the Dai Kaio, not Rou Kaioshin. The Kaios all look like fish (bass?), but the Kaioshins do indeed look like elves. There is a Kaioshin race, but I'm starting to wonder if Xyex's idea that they're suddenly born into their position is at least partially correct. Maybe Kibito was undergoing an X million year-long apprenticeship before becoming a Kaioshin.

I believe Toriyama based Kaio-sama off of an insect, a cockroach specifically. So I'm assuming the other three are based off insects too.

Cockroach works for me.

Now that you mention it, he does look like a roach. XD The antena, the big round body.... Though those whisker things have always made me think of a catfish. XD

THAT's what I was thinking of! But yeah, cockroach is definitely it.

I mixed up catfish with bass. Ha-ness.

Simply, they are Cataroaches...

I think it would be wierd for Kibto to be in a apprenticeship as he is older than Kaioshin.

Born into their roles or selected, that still leaves the question of where new Kaio/Kaioshin come from... o.o

I wouldn't go by age for something as insignificant as that. ^_^;;

Plus we're talking about a race of immortals (in the sense that Kamesennin is immortal) that we know very little about.

Yea, they've never seemed to age, except kibito who has some rinkles.

And Grand Kai, he may be filler material but Toriyama designed him.

I am more speaking of that Kibito was so old. If it took him so long to become a kaioshin, and the present Kaioshin was so young and still a kaioshin, then maybe Kibito was too thick in the head to be Kaioshin-material.
About the immortal thing, maybe once they get pure enough to be in the kaioshin circle they get immortal. So it probably took more time for Kibito to be pure, hence the face that he looked aged.
My conclusion is that Kibito probably wasn't suited as a Kaioshin and would be a lousy one, hence the fact that he was used as a cannonfodder.
Sorry if I ain't clear in this post. I'm not feeling well now. :(

Well, Kibito did have that whole holier-than-thou attitude...? ^^. Of course Kaioshin had his share of character flaws... Meh?

If the elder Kaioshin was from fifteen generations ago... what happened to cause the generations to change? We know about Buu for one...

Ok, I get you now. Before I thought you were judging solely on appearences, something we know never to do in DB.

It makes sense though. He could be either on the tip of becoming pure enough to become a Kaioshin, or maybe Kaioshin is even grooming Kibito to replace him.

Here's another thought: maybe the Kaioshin aren't necessary anymore. It seems the regular day-to-day work has been delegated to the Kaios, who already answer to the Dai Kaio, so what do the Kaioshins have to do? Make sure chaos doesn't reign over the universe. Big whoop, considering the strongest in the universe are gnats compared to the weakest Kaioshins.

Why didn’t any of the dead Kaioshin just return to there original roles is there some kind of rule preventing kaioshin from reasuming there roles once they die?
