I'll need assistance in choosing, but I'll go with one of these:
1.
Dance = 1 + 2
Potara = (1 + 2)(5)
2.
Dance = (1 + 2)(0.5)
Potara: 1 + 2
Which would be wiser?

Definitely the first set due to how straight forward it is.Anime Kitten wrote:I'll need assistance in choosing, but I'll go with one of these:

Honestly, just make your character(s) as strong as necessary for the plot and don't worry about any formulas. In my opinion, it's best to think of it as "metamoran fusion makes them really strong and potara makes them even stronger", because it's simpler and gets the job done. Whatever justifications you might need, you can always use excuses such as potential, weaknesses, rivalry, etc. If I ever get to write my own that's how I'll do.

To be fair, that essentially is what I'm doing. I just wanted to dabble in a little fun and have something to avoid confusion, mostly on my part. This will be the easiest method to recall how strong the Fusion characters should be in relation to each other and the base characters.Rubens wrote:Honestly, just make your character(s) as strong as necessary for the plot and don't worry about any formulas. This should be the final version. I suppose I'll scrap the Potara's effectiveness being affected by godliness, though they are still meant for gods.

Power levels matter damn it! How will the audience know the writers intentions if the logistics aren't there!Rubens wrote:Honestly, just make your character(s) as strong as necessary for the plot and don't worry about any formulas. When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

There is no general consensus regarding power levels. Personally, I think the author's approach should be clear but not too specific so there's enough room for the reader's own interpretation.ekrolo2 wrote:Power levels matter damn it! Now, ofcourse, the writer is just as free to apply his own interpretation and I have nothing against that.

Re: General Fan Fiction Thread
So my friend dared me to write a fanfiction that was Dragon Ball Evolution but that makes sense.
Itd take place in the world as shown in the movie but keep normal characters and the overall spirit of dbz...
Should i do it? And any advice/suggestions

Re: General Fan Fiction Thread
I'm not sure if this subject is appropriate as a new thread entirely or a non-thread-worthy discussion, so I'm throwing it here as a middle ground for now. Would you be interested in the entire Dragon Ball story consistently being a gag-based dramatic action series? I had a conversation about this a few days ago and it really struck my creative nerve.
The primary alteration I recall is with Cell's motivations. In this alternate continuity, he wants to be complete so that he may be handsome enough to court the perfect wife. The moment he achieves his goal, he instead thinks that he's so beautiful that no one but himself could compare for his hand in marriage. His fickle nature has him cruelly murder innocents for a self-confidence boost and then kill because no one is perfect enough for his new standards!
The general idea is to have ridiculous premises that are treated seriously in-universe. Freeza would still be a malicious soul who kills children to get what he wants but his reasons for doing so would make you chuckle in guilt. I'm adding that example to clarify the core story, established internal universe logic, characterizations, engaging action, and actual violence aren't going away. It's not becoming Dr. Slump. It is alleviating the the scale grievances by being self-aware. Admittedly, this is a difficult balance to accomplish. I guess you could imagine it as Toriyama evolving his humor to be darker, akin to the Boo arc. Are there any other fun changes that you'd like to see in this tone?

It'd be funny to play on Freeza and most bad guys plots to rule the universe by basically destroying it and everyones like "but if you kill everyone no one will serve you and this wholw thing is wastes effort"Nejishiki wrote:I'm not sure if this subject is appropriate as a new thread entirely or a non-thread-worthy discussion, so I'm throwing it here as a middle ground for now. Freeza: "ah well...you know... SHUT UP I'm POWERFUL!!"
Goku: "you dont have this figured out do you?
Freeza: "leave me alone or I'll kill you"
Real spolied since Freeza has just been naturally powerful
Its a subtle humor for a gag fic

How do you guys feel about namekian transformations?
Specifically:
I'm playing with the idea of letting Piccolo become a god ki user, but I don't want to go overboard and make up some sort of blue form or anything (because that would be ridiculous
), so I feel that the red eyes plus a different aura (and a slightly different outfit, but that's not part of the form) is difference enough to indicate a "Namekian God". What do you think?
What would be the best way for him to achieve such a form, anyway? My idea was that Piccolo's meditation, now that he has knowledge of god ki and access to Kami's powers, would lead to him discovering how to do it, similar to how Vegeta learned how to go Blue without a ritual, only that Piccolo has used much, much longer figuring it out (17 years after Resurrection F), but I haven't at all decided.

You could have Piccolo meet a powerful Namekian of Universe 6, who just so happens to want to fuse with him. Well, if he does some shit.Alruneia wrote:How do you guys feel about namekian transformations?

It's just an idea, but you could have Piccolo discover the namekian book of legends - or Dende, or Moori, or even some mysterious unknown namekian would give it to him, or Piccolo would go in some sort of a quest to find it - and discover the god form through that book.Alruneia wrote:How do you guys feel about namekian transformations?

Considering it's a lot easier to capture DB in text format then in live action format, I would say do it.LittleNeko23 wrote:So my friend dared me to write a fanfiction that was Dragon Ball Evolution but that makes sense.

I'm a fan of the red-eyes state being a God form but I think something as simple as an aura change would suffice. Namekian's clearly don't have transformations besides going giant, if they did, Toriyama would've milked them out by now.

Keeping up with the silliness of Dragon Ball you could have him pop up a mohawk. Because you know, Kaioshins have them and they have God Ki.Alruneia wrote:How do you guys feel about namekian transformations?

It's something I could see Mr.Toriyama come up with.
For something more grounded, maybe make use of the unique characteristics of the Namekians? Ears, antennas, the patch of skin(?) they have in their arms. If you want subtlety, I would go the Ultimate Gohan way. A small change of features to represent the God Ki.

How likely is it that a planet would come to worship Freeza if he say, conquered a new home for them to inhabit or brought order to their species through his dictatorship?

So for that Black rewrite I can't shut up about, I'm currently leaning towards Bulma being the one who gets sent back and interacting with the main timeline cast while Future Trunks, Mai and 16 are the ones primarily dealing with Black in the future. On one hand this means no training or power ups for Trunks on the other hand, seeing Future Bulma get freaked out by Goku thanks to Black-induced PTSD and interacting with reformed Vegeta sounds too good to pass up.
