Wouldn't say "sad" because they're still the bad guys in either context, but definitly heartbreaking. And it's too bad this conection between Gero and 16 wasn't thought about back in the day, I think it would have taken a different turn and enriched the arc.

While I do like it, it doesn't seem to fit perfectly well with Toriyama's style to incorporate it greatly within the story.

The Abridged team have a chance to make DB's story flow with DBZ in a way no other "prequel" can. It's a unique opportunity for artists that is extremely rare.

I found it! In episode 66 of Dragon Ball, titled "A Real Bind". Goku does indeed fire a Kamehameha at the RR Army Base. Two flying vehicles were shooting at him so he Kamehameha'd them. Looks like Gero's son was at that tower that got blown up.

Problem is, Toriyama was never good with such type of story, he even said it in notes in one of Dr.Slump volumes, that it was his assistant idea to have Dr. Senbei marry Midori, he write it that way, because he was bad at family/romance writing stuff. Maybe Toei could make slice of life episode about that?

Its such a well done scene, but I HATE the implication that it was Goku who lead to his death. It's not a really big deal but to us at Kanzenshuu since we know the actual lore and have seen the interviews. However, we are now we are going to have fans who either: A. think that that's what actually what happened or B. Think its just a joke and that 16 has no relation to Gero and will see it as an exclusive piece of TFS lore.

Either way, misinformation will be spread which I hate.

If they ever remake DBZ adding some extra lore, that would be a retcon I would totally love.
Or they could just make a TV Special adding more lore to Future Trunks' story that could show us why Gero hated so much Goku and why Future 16 was probably deactivated after Goku died.
