Monica Rial's Bulma sounds a tad bit different. Hebert's Gohan sounds a bit more...mature than from what I remember him doing in the FUNi Z Dub. It also sounds like we still have Laura Bailey as Kid Trunks.
Really glad to see Funimation put this out, it's good to see promotion of Kai 2.0 isn't being completely neglected in favour of pushing Super.
Not sure what I think of Kyle Herbert's take on late teen Gohan here although its certainly not bad. Monica Rial, Laura Bailey and Chris Sabat sound good. I think Schemmel really gets the childish aspects to Goku's character now much more than he did back during the Z Buu saga, and this clip shows that.
Which is why I love Kai. Every character is more on point than Z's dub due to better scripting, translation, & performance. Sean's finally got Goku down all the way. He got it for Ressurrection F & it shows even more here.
Kyle does make Gohan sound slightly deeper here than Z, but it's consistent with what he's been doing ever since Battle of Gods.
Rial's consistent with her Bulma performance. If she sounds different, it's probably because Bulma's older & they wanted to reflect that. If you watch the bonus features of Battle of Gods, you can see Sabat directing Hebert to play Gohan younger than he was in GT during a take, so he notices this shit & makes corrections for the performances.
Sabat's performance is still good & it's nice to have Bailey back. No idea why she's not recording him for Super, but I hope Alexis Tipton can come close to her Trunks voice. I hate Colleen's young Gohan because it's basically Luffy's voice, only younger, & sounds nothing like his Z voice, but I've only heard Tipton in One Piece as Fukuro, so I'm hoping she'll be able to approximate Bailey's Trunks voice to some degree. It'll be jarring to watch Super, then watch Kai as a result of the recast, but I'm hoping she'll be ok at least.
