If Beerus wants a team that isn't comprised almost entirely of worthless mooks I'd say so.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

It would be idiotic for Beerus/Whis not to do so considering both their home and food planet are at stake.

Exactly, the U6 tournament didn't really have that many stakes for Beerus personally, yeah he'd lose the Earth but this will result in him dying. There's literally no way they can justify Whis not putting everyone on the team through the training of hell. It HAS to happen.

It would follow the age old tradition of training under masters goku did and coming out as better than what goku achieved.
There is absolutely no way they can skip this without it being absolutely stupid

They should, but we all know they're not going to.

I agree, also how would they handle someone like Gohan training with whis? Become stronger than Goku and Vegeta? They can't have that happen. Piccolo and Gohan will probably show the results of the training that is implied they are doing together and everyone else will be used for their speciality techniques.

That would suck big time..
No reason for them not to train under whis in and out universe

There is no reason to not do it in-universe, but out-universe the only reason to do it is merchandise. They don't need to have people get near Goku or Vegeta. There will be weak guys for the minor characters to defeat and Goku and Vegeta wil do all the heavy lifting. It's like I said, there is no way to have Gohan train with Whis and not make him atleast Goku and Vegeta tier, especially if they have plenty of time to train.

Hell yeah. This is actually something I've complained about in the past given the insane gains Vegeta made when trained with Whis for several months.

I think Piccolo and Gohan are fine.
However, I think Krillin should join and develop combination attacks with the kienzan

I wonder if Tien can combine his trademark attack to pin a stronger opponent in place allowing Krillin to actually hit the damn Kienzan. That'd be a combination attack I'd be hyped to see. Pretty simple but effective one hit kill combo.

On a similar note; If it's said training alongside a partner of similar strength can yield better results, I have no idea why Krillin and Tenshinhan don't use one another to spar.
Krillin's said to train with Roshi from time to time and Tien only seems to train with Chiaoutzu. All four would be much better off if they switched partners. Or called Yamcha who could probably be a better partner for at least three of them.

I think is a school thing. Tien does respect master roshi but as a martial artist he is kind of a rogue since his master proved to be an ass. Without crane, tien can only train with his fellow student.

I would love to see some brains in this tournament. I hope the writers have plans that go beyond "1v1 fighting". For example time challenges, mind challenges etc. Ok might be the strongest but when it comes to tricking your opponent, Krillin is a God.

Of course lets not forget universes collaborating. I can see Champa and Beerus working an agreement to save their asses while securing that at least 1 of them wins and the other requests both universes to survive. Or why not a rule that say that only sibling universes may survive. Since 6-7 are the same, if one of these wins the other does too. Have hit collaborate with Goku and Vegeta with cabba

If they don't there will be NO excuse. The entire universe is at stake. Everyone has every reason to train their damn asses off. I mean seriously, if none of these dudes get a power boost that'll be infuriating.

I don't think most of them would survive, Whis is relentless he doesn't play around lol,
but if he tones down the difficulty of his training regiment to appropriate and beneficial levels for each team member then it could make a huge difference on their performance.

Him being a master, he knows the more Saiyans are pushed the more they become stronger, a good master recognizes his students abilities and trains them accordingly..
With earthlings that isn't the case, training would definitely be toned according to them..
If he ever decides to train them that is
