Just like several other people, I decided to try to make my own coverart for the season 1 box-set. It's nothing as fancy as the other versions I've seen, but I think they looked good enough to post here. At least they're not ORANGE.
They are designed for Slimpack covers, so I have one for each disc.
Disc one:
Disc two:

(I was planning to use Gohan here, but I couldn't find a good picture.)
Disc three:
Disc four:
Disc five:
Disc six:
So, what do you think?

I think they're pretty cool. Done in illustrator?
I like individual slim cover DVD sets much better than the overlapping fold out ones that we got.
Check out our home made films!
Lots of martial arts action and comedy.

They were made in Flash. Due to that, I'm also a bit unsure if the spine is the right size, so it might have to be resized in order to look right.
By the way, does anyone have a good picture of Bulma or Kuririn I can use for disc 6?

Very nice. I've always prefered slim packs, they just look better. You know you can get double slim cases? That way you could get all of season 1 into three thin packs.

Iam shocked everyone is saying these look good. If FUNimation had covers like this everyone would be saying how they look like shit.

Oh come now Tanooki, be nice! They're certainly better than what I could do, and that's coming from an artist!
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

For someone who is not a profesional, they look pretty good; I would hvae liked to see the star background all over or no background though.

I think they are all OK. I don't demand much for covers, more than what he has done. I think they are cool!
EDIT: Krillin picture frenzy!
Best choice, I think.

A classic, it is.

Full of action, it is.

Well they're not the greatest but they're not crossed eye'd. Hell I'd buy them if you had 4:3.

Well, these are just fanart. FUNi's coverart is bad, considering how it's supposed to look professional, but for the most part, it looks like crap. Besides, my pictures are 1. Not orange, and 2. Do not contain an extremely ugly, cross-eyed Vegeta on the cover.
And by the way, I based them off the coverart for Lost Season 1, which was basically just a character image on the front, and episode listings on the back, just like these covers.

O very well...
Vegard Aune, you weren't able to find a decent pic of Gohan? This has always been one of my favorites, weren't you able to take it from the episode?

Well, sure I could, but I didn't notice it while I was looking through the DVDs. Does anyone have a Dragonbox/Ultimate Uncut version of that one? 'Cause those would propably be easier to use, as they're not cropped, and have more detail. (No, actually, I CAN'T use the Season 1 footage, as Gohan's entire body was missing...)

If tracing counts, then yes. If you mean that I drew them completely from scratch, no. You can find all those images somewhere during the Saiyan arc.

I have to agree.. but for homemade they are all right.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.
