Probably lurking. I sent SelMod a PM and he/she (again, I forget) said that he/she's willing to send anyone a template of the custom cover, but he/she's also working on the custom him/herself.

IMO, this season looks worse than Season 1. It might be because I wasn't looking for it in the first season, but I seem to notice more broken lines on the cells in this season...

That one didn't look too bad to me. Kuririn looked a little awkward, but apart from that, that picture wasn't THAT awful.

No need to feel sorry for Corey for having a ps3...that's just if he didn't pay full price for that thing. A great system and all, don't get me wrong but Jeezus.. lol Huh, oh on topic, you guys think if casual anime/DBZ fans catch on to the lack of quality of these sets they'll end up like the UUE?

I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Maybe. But some people (Like me) buy them despite the incredible crappiness of the sets, not because these sets are cheap, but the singles are too damn expensive! But if these sets DO get cancelled, I hope it happens after the Trunks-episodes, due to those two episodes in there that were so hard to get. (Or, not as easy as the others, anyway.)

I have a question. Would yous guys buy these sets if all the sudden, there were fullscreen editions? The catch is: they're the same quality from UUE + the other single DVD releases.

[I'm not sure this has been asked before. Sorry if it has.]

I would, I really don't like widescreen anyways, I don't know why it's so popular.

Yup.

I've only got set number one, and I don't plan on buying more. But if they released fullscreens, then I'd be all over them. Even if that were the only change; the "remastering" bothers me even less than the fullscreen.

I saw the set at Best Buy today and really considered getting it just to grab those last few episodes. That is, until I looked to the left and saw that they had put out the Naruto Uncut Box Set #3 a few days early so I grabbed that instead. Less episodes, more money, yet somehow it's just worth it. :D

Oh definitely. Widescreening the series was just such a random move that I don't see why they did it in the first place (except for the crappy thinking that widescreen = l337). I mean, do you see the Friends releases being changed into widescreen? What about the Super Mario Bros. releases? Grounded For Life? Everybody Loves Raymond? I can go on, but you get the idea.

Buying them now just makes me feel like I've done some kind of "sacrilege" thing. My excuse for getting the first two is that well... there's no other way to get these episodes in the US otherwise.

I don't know how many times I need to say this, but if every DBZ fan had simply stuck to their guns and had been patient, FUNi would have realized that they couldn't get away with marketing an incomplete product and would be retooling these releases in 4:3 by now.

At this point, I almost wish FUNi would go ahead and complete the widescreen releases, then turn around and drop 4:3 versions on us. Sure, they'd be getting even more money off the franchise, but at least all those who caved and screwed over the rest of us (those wanting a quality release) would be kicking themselves for doing so.

Well, it's generally "so popular" because it's usually the original aspect ratio for theatrical movies and therefore the preferred format. However, it's the exact opposite with this, as MADE PAINFULLY OBVIOUS AGAIN AND AGAIN ON THIS BOARD.

Much like the pointing out of the shortcomings of the FUNi dub, tihs will never go away. Even if they release good sets down the road, these times will not be forgotten and they will be deservingly mocked for years to come over it.

As is fitting.

I dont mind the widescreen.. its still DBZ even if some of the picture is cut, and its very cheap I spent more money on the UUC starter set(which was 3 episodes). On the HDTV up stairs I dont even notice the cropping.

Well, you have to realize something: The majority of people buying these sets actually like them and probably don't post on this forum. So, even if the entirety of DaizEX and the FUNi DBZ forum just sat there and didn't buy them, it still wouldn't have put a real dent in the final sales figures.

Besides, according to FUNi reps there aren't any plans for DBZ beyond pumping out these season sets right now. So, stick to your guns like glue for all I care. We're not getting jack for a long time.

Everyone in America is a millionaire and automatically has a widescreen TV.

I'm honestly more upset about the half-done redubbing in the Season 2 set. It just sounds so incomplete that way.

With the money they spent on "widescreen" they could've used to pay the rest of the cast to do a complete redub for that one english track.
2006 Vegeta talking to 1999 Goku sounds so wrong.
On hiatus.

Yeah, and FUNi should always be taken at their word.

But even if that happens, fuck it. I'm still not buying any of their shit until they get it right, and if I should lose interest in the series before that happens, so be it.

Surely somebody at FUNimation realizes that they could have made EVEN MORE MONEY (zOMgZ!!!1!11! more $$$$??!?) if they had simply kept the set's universal appeal by not cropping the fucking thing?
