Oh God, Toei will indeed handle the new Saint Seiya anime. Will Super suffer even further?
Those guys are crazy.
The shonen Black Clover anime will be handled by Pierrot.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It depends on a lot of factors, the new Saint Seiya will probably start after Tiger Mask is over and potentially even Appli Monsters. If it's the only show started at that time and both Tiger Mask and Appli monsters are done and Super did manage to get extra production time for this new arc like we hope then it shouldn't be an issue.FortuneSSJ wrote:Oh God, Toei will indeed handle the new Saint Seiya anime. There's just not enough information to know if Saint Seiya will hurt Super or not.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
It should be noted that, unless Toei plan on adding their own material, this anime will not last long. There are currently only 70 chapters released at the time of this announcement, but each chapter does have 20 - 30 pages minimum. I'd say by the time the anime starts, which I'd guess would be some time in May/June 2017, I'd say the plan would be to have about five or six cours.ArchedThunder wrote:It depends on a lot of factors, the new Saint Seiya will probably start after Tiger Mask is over and potentially even Appli Monsters. Seikaisuru Kado should be starting sometime in April too. These two are the only new anime projects we know are coming.

Funny enough, its a CG anime series. Toei's first ever, in fact.ArchedThunder wrote:Jesus, Toei has another show coming in April? Toei needs to fuckin cool it.Sodhi wrote:Seikaisuru Kado should be starting sometime in April too. These two are the only new anime projects we know are coming.

Oh thank god, so that won't effect Super or any of their other shows in the slightest. If it works out for them it would be smart for them to shift to CG for their low return projects to allow their 2D animators to focus on their big IP like One Piece, Dragon Ball, PreCure and Saint Seiya.Lord Beerus wrote:Funny enough, its a CG anime series. Hopefully they don't go CG with Dragon Ball...
EDIT: Holy shit, I just watched the trailer, if they went CG for Dragon Ball and it looked like that I could deal with it.
I still want Dragon Ball to be 2D though.

If the PV is anything to go by it actually looks really good. Of course the final show could look dramatically worse at points.HeroR wrote: So it looks better than the CGI Berserk anime?

You got me interested so I checked it out. Wow. You can tell its cgi but it really does look like 2D animation at the same time. Great stuff.ArchedThunder wrote:If the PV is anything to go by it actually looks really good. I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

To bring things back on-topic, are the episodes that Tate supervises generally uncorrected? It seems to be that only cuts he does in other episodes are corrected.

We usually don't get uncorrected Tate, no. His style is pretty inconsistent with the rest of the animators', so it's understandable.Anime Kitten wrote:To bring things back on-topic, are the episodes that Tate supervises generally uncorrected? Not trying to change the topic, but can someone PM me a link to the Seikaisuru Kado PV?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 70
This is Tate Naoki from Dragon Ball Z. Now compare it to Super and you will see the evolution of his style. Sorry, but I can recognize Gokuu and Hit just fine even with the loose drawings and for the gazillionith time staying on-model isn't a prerequisite for good animation.Amir wrote: Another bad excuse, he evolved his style you say? How is that evolving when everything other than the motion itself looks bad? If you put those characters in different clothes and colors you won't be able to tell if it's Hit and Goku.
Also it's not like the NEP has some awesome choreography with well animated movements. If it were that way then it's still fine I guess, but it's not. When Goku attacks Hit, the facial expressions don't change at all thus making Goku look like a lifeless zombie and it can't be taken seriously.
During his One Piece days, he was inspired by the very talented Sushio which lead to him developing the loose and simplistic character art which he is known for now. Because of that, he started producing quality work and is one of the finest animators who has a creative voice that Toei hears and appreciates.
The NEP has just enough to have me and whoever understands what Tate's style is to get excited. Anyways, I rest my case. I'm tired of this Tate conversation.

Maybe the next arc will have a bit CGI? I mean it can help the schedule a bit. Like some scenes or even combine 2D with CGI. Maybe... Just maybe...Ki Breaker wrote:I think CG would fit Dragonball really wellArchedThunder wrote: EDIT: Holy shit, I just watched the trailer, if they went CG for Dragon Ball and it looked like that I could deal with it.

In cases where they've tried, it hasn't worked out well. Even in the big, expensive movies.Gashif Aldi wrote:Maybe the next arc will have a bit CGI? I mean it can help the schedule a bit. Like some scenes or even combine 2D with CGI. Maybe... Just maybe...

I agree that Toei doesn't make good dragonball CGI, the best examples of this being those infamous scenes during the BOG movie, as well as the majority of the SSB Goku vs Golden Frieza in the ROF movie that looked really ugly and dragged the fight down.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:In cases where they've tried, it hasn't worked out well. What about the CGI fight between Goku and Frieza on that universal theme park ride? That was pretty good, that's probably too high budget though.I agree that Toei doesn't make good dragonball CGI, the best examples of this being those infamous scenes during the BOG movie, as well as the majority of the SSB Goku vs Golden Frieza in the ROF movie that looked really ugly and dragged the fight down.

God no, anything but that, the majority of SSJB Goku V Golden Freeza was a chore to watch because of the CGI, the movie would have been better without it.Gashif Aldi wrote:Maybe the next arc will have a bit CGI?
