Availability of the Bardock Special

Post by Ex-Dubbie369 » Tue May 22, 2007 12:46 am

It looks like most places on the internet no longer have the DVD of the special. Zstore has stopped selling it also. It is still avaliable at some sites for reasonable prices, but I doubt for much longer. It could be possible that FUNi is going to put the special on the season 3 set because it would fit in to that story line with Freeza. So anyone who doesn't have it and wants it before it too is cropped better snatch it before it's gone.

Believe it or not as I was fixing up my dvds and opening ones I hadn't opened before, when I opened this one Buu saga dvd I got at Suncoast at Quakerbridge Mall for cheap as it was closing, what was inside was NOT the dvd with the eps but a copy of The Bardock Special.

Though sadly a terribly maimed and beyond-repair copy of The Bardock Special; or else I'd part with it as I bought my copy back when Sagas came out. Ironically when I went to first buy it the clerk checked it to see if it was scratched up because of a noise the case was making. Turns out it was so he or she (I forget who it was) helped me out by sending away for a non-destroyed copy.

Just my luck I ended up with both the nice, working copy and the original messed up one.
I'm still a little upset I didn't get the dvd I thought I'd bought though.

Moral of the story/Advise? : If you have a local Suncoast try calling them up; they were really helpful to me until they closed down last spring.
On hiatus.

I've been looking for a copy of Bardock, myself. My only hope in actually going to stores at this point is checking the Used Bargain bins, which I make it a point to do every time I'm at a GameStop or FYE or something... Alas, eBay or Amazon or something may be the only option at this point.

Buy it used from Amazon. That's where I got mine (for about $9.99), and it was in mint condition (cover, disc & all). In fact, you get most of the DBZ singles in really good shape used on Amazon.

Amazon is selling for a really high price right now, so ebay may be the best place to check.

ZeroPlus: You shouldn't buy anything from that store considering it sells bootleg merchandise.

I got mine a few months ago from some guy in New York on a some random website I Froogled. Was kind of pissed since it took two months to get her, but it did eventually arrive (to my surprise).

I'm thinking the special is going to go out of print, considering the Zstore no longer has it listed.

I'm content with whatever happens to the DVD industry for DragonBall Z right now. FUNimation has pissed me off beyond belief because of their widescreen format, so I'm just trying to finish off my Boxed Sets where I still get fullscreen.

As for the Bardock Special, I taped it off of Toonami back somewhere in th year 2001-2002, I have the VHS, and also the DVD. So I guess I might as well sell the VHS one on eBay sometime because there is no way I'm parting with the DVD. :-)

It's not only the Bardock Special, but all FUNi's older (as in 4:3) DB/Z (I'm pretty sure they're leaving GT alone, since they released those boxed sets not so long ago) DVDs are slowly becoming unavailable. I saw a whole bunch of DB/Z DVDs, including the two specials and a couple DB sets at the Fanime Con, but restricted myself to getting the latter half of the Piccolo Jr. Saga (I didn't know at the time, but amazon is currently selling the last half of the saga for $101.29.) :x...

Man, thats really stupid. It seems like every other week some DragonBall DVD just becomes rare and sky rockets in value. Whats up with this generation? They read manga on the floor in book stores, they buy DVD's for 100 bucks. What is wrong with you people! (lolz)

DragonBall DVD's are getting to be like stocks, you buy em for like 15 - 20$ and they go up in price. Then you could sell them... or keep them, hoping the price will keep going up. Keep your DragonBall DVD's people! They'z GOLD!

Geez, when did the prices go up so much? I was able to get ALL of the Dragonball DVDs ('cept 1-13, of course) off of eBay around Christmas time for around $250. Guess I'm glad I bought them then instead of waiting.

After doing some searching, I re-discovered (link removed by administrator) supply of dragon ball DVDs. They're all either close to retail price, or significantly cheaper, especially when considering their availability (I've got my eye on their movie 4-6 pack). But I forget if the site is legit or not :?. If they are, then it would be a good alternative when the used/new section of amazon is a let down.

Some DVDs are legit others bootlegs. You can tell by how much they are and who the makers of the dvds are. They have the official Berserk box set here (link removed by administrator)
or you can get the bootleg like i did here (link removed by administrator)
i got the bootleg knowing that it was a bootleg due to the extremely high price of the official - it was either $80 or $18 for the same content. I think I make the right choice.

ANYWAYS - the Dragon Ball DVDs should be real if they saw they were from FUNi, which it does, if it says from Anime Cartoon - you have the Chinese bootlegs - which are as good IMO. So grab any while you can.
