Krillin versus piccolo. My God, that fight was amazing. It really showcased krillins growth as a fighter and krillin gaining Piccolo's respect was great. I love how piccolo said "this world might not be so easy to take over after all."

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Vegeta managing to stop Frieza dead in his tracks. I dislike his character, but that moment was straight badass, especially in the anime.

It was iconic for me because up until that point Frieza had been built up as an invincible tyrant who no one could dare challenge, and those who did were slaughtered ruthlessly. Frieza was practically Godlike compared to everyone else, no one could compare, yet Vegeta was able to block his attacks and clash with him almost evenly.

The scene is even more poignant because of the history they have, Vegeta spent his entire life under Frieza's boot but in this moment of rebellion he was able to stand up to him despite his overwhelming power.

The reveal that Baba's fifth fighter is Gohan. I love the slow build up with everyone freaking out over Goku being beaten, Roshi explaining how this masked man knows everything about Goku, and how this is a fight of destiny that they can't interfere in. Then he drops the bomb, and then that awesome imposing shot of Gohan with the scary music. One of my favorite fights and favorite aftermaths with Goku hugging his grandpa.

I also concur with what LightBing said about Chaozu's sacrifice. Tenshinhan's vision/contact with Chaozu after his death against Nappa and subsequent flashbacks of their time together followed by Tenshinhan laying down his own life so Chaozu won't be alone is also incredibly moving.

In that same vein, there's also the moment when Goku runs off in a rage to find Tambourine after he finds Kuririn's body. That fantastic suspenseful music cue, Roshi yelling at him not to leave, and the tears that fall from Goku's eyes as he runs and we see flashes of his time with Kuririn. As a kid, Kuririn's death reveal really got to me, and this moment was such a shocking change for Goku. Don't want to pull a "back in the good old days" on you guys, but I do miss those old feelings I got when I didn't know how easily death could be reversed.

All the humans dying to Nappa has so much more impact if you watched all of Dragonball immediately before it. I think a lot of Americans never got as attached to Yamcha, Tenshihan, etc....because they didn't see Dragonball prior.

I actually have to agree with this. Plus, in a way it was Krillin's chance to face off against Piccolo Daimao after he died against Tambourine.

Probably the anime part where Tenshinhan actually uses the Mafuuba and only fails because of Drum.
