Whatever Happened to Evil Grey Buu?
So this is something that has always confused me. When the fat Majin Buu gets removed from Super Buu, he begins to transform into Kid Buu. Why did that happen? Shouldn't he have transformed back into Thin Buu?

Vegeta also thought that's what would've happened so Toriyama didn't forget about him.
I think it's the same Buu but thanks to him feeding off of Fat Buu's energy, he was able to turn back into his original form instead.

I was under the impression that Pure Evil Boo was exclusively the Grand Kaioshin-influenced Boo's evil. In other words, they're essentially the same being except one split is stronger than the other. When he became Evil Boo through eating him, the Grand Kaioshin absorption remained with the weaker Boo. That should explain why Evil Boo was lacking the Innocent vest before he absorbed Gotenks, Piccolo, and Gohan. He was now his own Boo aside from his "special absorption" preventing him from harming Mr. Satan.
Later, when Vegeta detaches the Grand Kaioshin-influenced Boo, Evil Boo lost the means to retain his Pure Evil form, if that were even possible anymore. If you recall, he briefly represented South Kaioshin's influence before expelling it altogether. I personally gather that Evil Boo utilized South Kaioshin's absorption the entire time as the superior Boo and that it became unstable when his special Boo was released. That should explain why he swelled up briefly before becoming Pure of any absorption.
Now we're left with Pure Boo. The only hold that remains is Grand Kaioshin-influenced Boo keeping Pure Boo from harming Mr. Satan. He's detached so I wouldn't think he's providing additional strength. Spitting him out allowed Pure Boo complete freedom to be himself without Satanic manipulation affecting him.
