They're both jokes to him. His treatment to Piccolo is worse imo because Piccolo can do nothing about it and he actually likes fighting though.

He does not view Piccolo like that, he only views Gohan as a joke. Also why would he train with Krillin when obviously Piccolo would be better, so if to you Piccolo is a low bar joke then what is Krillin.

Is anyone realizing that Vegetas been absolutely shunned in these fillers. No episodes being dedicated to him and making extremely minor cameos. I wonder if that means they're going to rest him extremely well during the tournament?

They do what Toriyama says and I predict all 10 fighters to get a decent role.

Goku only views Gohan as a joke in the Super manga. Goku has never expressed disappointment in Gohan in the anime.

Piccolo, however, is the low bar joke in that Goku at his weakest in Episode 42 views losing to Piccolo as a sign of how sick he is. Before then, he was humoring bringing baby Uub over Piccolo and was ready to dump Piccolo when Gohan said he wanted to be part of the tournament. He also left Piccolo hanging with that entire scene with the Evil Containment Wave. And says a lot that he chose Gohan and Krillin as his training buddy over Piccolo.

Wouldn't Goku say that to anyone not Vegeta? If Goku never ditched Piccolo then Trunks would have not been able to use the Mafuba. The most important thing is that Toriyama views Gohan as the joke and not Piccolo.

So do you actually believe that it is better for Goku to train with either Gohan or Krillin instead of Piccolo. Didn't Goku train for 3 years with Piccolo before.

Overall it is just more Toei nonsense.

The old cast will never be replaced unless we get a new series set in the future, even then Roshi, Piccolo and Buu will still probably be around.

Yamcha never carried the episode he just a big part at the end. It was carried by everyone. Any character can be the main focus of an episode or have a big part. The driving episode with Goku and Piccolo is an example how Piccolo can have a big part in a filler episode.
