Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I think the chances of seeing an aged Goten/Trunks went up significantly with the news of Bulla.
They're the only ones not included in marketing for the next arc despite clearly being stronger than some on the team. I think they did this to hide a time-jump.
I also don't see why fusion couldn't be used in this tournament. It's not 1v1s but more of a 10v10 as far as we know, if two of your fighters decide to merge I don't think that would be an issue.
I'm calling we're going to see something similar to Buu getting DQ'd in the last tournament and somehow an aged Goten and Trunks will join the team.

I'm so jaded I wouldn't be surprised if they still don't age up Goten and Trunks.
They're not even in Super that much, you'd think that alone would be reason enough to age them up when they're not around since their inclusion is mostly a "Let's have characters the age of target audience".

The question was asked for if we go past EOZ obviously so bringing up she's a baby is irrelevant anyways.Noah wrote:Who says Super will go beyond EoZ?ArchedThunder wrote:Who says she'll be a baby forever?

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Oh God, finally Bulma is pregnant!! We are one step closer to EOZ. Good job Vegeta!
Now 2 more arcs until the new generation start growing up...
Illusion or not I'm just tired of Freeza and his race at this point, so I'm not excited about episode 76 plot.
At least Shimanuki will get that one. That's a plus.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It's a pretty obvious answer, actually. Younger faces are more marketable to pretty much every demographic.SSJ Human wrote:I don't understand why they can't make the younger characters look older. They were able to for GT, but since then it's somehow difficult.

I doubt Goten and Trunks not aging has anything to do with marketability, they aren't used much at all in the show. Toriyama probably just hasn't submitted new designs and the Toei staff don't find it worth it to make new designs for them.

Goku is the main character, it's probably a lot easier to rationalize making new designs for him, even if they are only temporary.kinisking wrote:Yet they make a Goku design that's literally used for 5 seconds.ArchedThunder wrote:I doubt Goten and Trunks not aging has anything to do with marketability, they aren't used much at all in the show. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Oh I know why they did it, I'm just saying their priorities are in the wrong place. A design for Goku that's only used as a gag? Great! A design for Goten and Trunks that gives consistency and credibility to the story? Not worth our time.ArchedThunder wrote:Goku is the main character, it's probably a lot easier to rationalize making new designs for him, even if they are only temporary.kinisking wrote:Yet they make a Goku design that's literally used for 5 seconds.ArchedThunder wrote:I doubt Goten and Trunks not aging has anything to do with marketability, they aren't used much at all in the show. If someone gets disqualified then there will be no replacement just like last time. It would be team universe 7's fault and they will have to carry on.dblack wrote:I think the chances of seeing an aged Goten/Trunks went up significantly with the news of Bulla.

I'm surprised this many people don't like Bra when she has like 2 seconds of screentime.

She has no importance and no history so no one cares about her, especially as there are other characters that should be getting screen time.precita wrote:I'm surprised this many people don't like Bra when she has like 2 seconds of screentime.

I'm sure many people have their opinion flavored by GT, just like with Uub.precita wrote:I'm surprised this many people don't like Bra when she has like 2 seconds of screentime.
I'm personally not interested in her simply because unlike Uub and Pan they didn't do anything at all with her at the end of Z, she was just there. However, Toriyama and Toei can get me to care about her by making her an actual character and doing fun things with her.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I think a chunk of people like Bra because they like to (and can because she has no set personality) imagine her to be what they want her to be. They can self insert. They can wish fulfillment. They can go "Oh, Bulma and Vegeta have a daughter? Since she's barely in Z I can make up whatever personality traits for her I want without feeling like I'm author inserting since she's a canon character!"
I guarantee once/if they ever do age Bra up enough and utilize her enough to where she has her own personality that a bunch of fans of who she could be will drop off.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
A lot of people think of GT Bra, who's actually a pretty funny character. It's a shame we didn't get more of her. Also, even though it's kinda weird and creepy that she's a little slutty for her age, it's entirely plausible for a child of Bulma and Vegeta, and it comes off as just another natural part of her aggressive, spoiled personality. They want more of her for that reason, subconsciously not realizing that the Bra we'd get from Super would be a totally different character.Chuquita wrote:I think a chunk of people like Bra because they like to (and can because she has no set personality) imagine her to be what they want her to be. Wait, didn't some animators (back in dbz) complain about animating (perfect) Cell was like a pain in tha ass? Curious how these current animators are going to handle Cell.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
GT Bra was entertaining to me because she was the one who freed Vegeta from his "moostache". Getting an in-universe reason for why he rid himself of said facial hair was pretty good. I would've liked to see more of her just to see what GT would've done more fully with her personality (we get so much of Pan, so little of Bra).Jinzoningen MULE wrote:A lot of people think of GT Bra, who's actually a pretty funny character. I do think whatever Super does with her would be different from what GT did, if only because Toei hasn't shown they've fully committed to sewing Super and GT together the way they do Super and EoZ (what with mentioning Uub a while back; and with going through with having Bra be born altogether).
The creepiness of Bra's outfit at her age (she's 9 in GT, right?) I think is Japan's age-appropriate guidelines being what they were in 1996. Bra's GT outfit is a lot like Kid Chi-Chi's outfit in that way that I doubt would fly in most modern anime series.
Thank you! I'm sure people view Goten that way too. I think there's definitely an element of "liking what they personally want the character develop into" with the next gen cast. It's being able to have your own headcanon because there isn't an actual canon for that character at that set age yet.kinisking wrote:That's a good point, but I'm surprised more people don't think that about Goten.

He says that, picture-wise, the spots on his body were really tough; it was very tedious to draw them every time.

I'm pretty sure in an interview with Yamamuro about Resurrection F he was asked how he would feel about Cell coming back and he said he didn't want him to because his spots made him a pain to animate.
I don't expect Cell to move a whole lot in the episode anyways.
