There isn't anything wrong with people preferring the JPN version but I do get what you're trying to say, no matter how good the JPN acting is it's limited to subtitles for us so it is only natural that one would enjoy something more in their natural tongue, for me I enjoyed BoG way more back then when it was dubbed because I caught on, on things I missed when watching the show subbed. I'm sure there are some elitist who think the Japanese dub is better, but I definitely prefer this over Japanese voices. Yeah I don't mind the Japanese voices, but I prefer my own language for this anime. This and Yu Yu Hakusho.

That line made me excited for the dub. My Goku is finally back. Every single actor, both from the original cast and from the replacement cast, were on their A-game. I don't know how accurate the script was since I can't turn the subitltes on for the Japanese version, but I suspect it's probably in line with how FUNimation usually adapts Dragon Ball nowadays: very accurate, with only a few, inconsequential changes (most of which were done to fit the lip flaps anyway). I'm a little bummed about the songs not being dubbed, but everything else about the first episode made up for that and then some. I'm really psyched to hear more!
In the original, when Goku talks about training for future threats, it's all centered around simply preparing for the future.
In the FUNi version, he mentions how he has to keep training to keep his loved ones safe.
In the grand scheme of things, it's pretty much inconsequential but I'd rather they never bothered having that line at all

I think it might have to do with Super having a more rushed production schedule for the dub. It has nothing to do with production time, I'm confident of that. The voices are perfectly coherent, but the tone seems off. If you read more carefully, I said that I don't like any of TFC that I've seen so far. It sounded good. On-point for the most part. Pretty much what we can expect from modern-day FUNi's approach to Dragon Ball. I doubt I'll be able to catch every episode weekly (mainly because I'd rather watch the newest Japanese episodes on Crunchyroll), but if the scripts and performances stay at this level (or even exceed them over time), then we got yet another great Dragon Ball dub to add to our Kai/BoG/RoF collections.

One more thing: did they recast Chi-Chi? She sounded like a different actress. I don't follow English dub news that much.
I haven't heard any sort of news that stated Chi-Chi had her voice actor replaced, and I'm relatively sure it's the same voice actress. Keep in mind that the only line we heard from Chi-Chi was extremely exaggerated fitting her temperament in that scene. She also has her lines at the end but those were pretty in-line with how her voice actress took the character in Kai, it's different from Z but almost everyone changed their character approach from Z to Kai so that doesn't mean much.One more thing: did they recast Chi-Chi?
