Yikes, as an actual Vegeta fan the "My Bulma" scene was literally the most shameful display and misuse of Vegeta I've ever seen. Literally that scene alone was the first time I've actually be repulsed by Vegeta "raging" out. Considering the number of times he's gotten close to killing his own wife, for him to get a rage boost to that degree where he's surpassed anything that can finger tap SSJ3, yeah I'm pretty annoyed he couldn't pull that crap off when the actual world and planet and universe he lives on with his wife and kids is endangered..Noah wrote:I can only agree with that line, even though I don't have much problem with it. But for me Vegeta in GT is a better character than his Super counterpart as he is more consistent with the speech he made in the battle against Boo and in the end of the manga. He is not a caricature of his past self: always grump, obsessed with Goku, having difficulty showing affection towards his wife and constantly humiliating himself to people like Beerus as in Super e.g. Even though he had nice moments with Future Trunks in the last arc, I expected more from him in this series in terms of personality.Araki wrote:No way in hell. Crap lines like "I'm an earthling!!!" make no sense and cross the line. There's also the Budokai episode where he acts like a retard. Not to mention he spends more than half his screentime possessed...and then being useless.Noah wrote:And was a better character than his Super counterpart for sure.

Hearing the news about toriyama being sick make me sad
I'm hoping toriyama doesn't get an uncurable disease and he gets better
yeah that's my bulma was terrible heck the scene with cell kills trunks and Vegeta gets enraged was a million times betterTheMikado wrote:Yikes, as an actual Vegeta fan the "My Bulma" scene was literally the most shameful display and misuse of Vegeta I've ever seen. I love rage scenes when they are "real" and by real I mean they don't acomplish nothing. The gr wrote:yeah that's my bulma was terrible heck the scene with cell kills trunks and Vegeta gets enraged was a million times better
Good examples are Vegeta vs. Cell (as you noted) and other I could say it was Goku vs. Black and Zamasu, what a great scene it was, even though Goku was giving a good beating to his foes leaded by his anger in the end he was defeated anyway, it was sad, but real.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

I like Gohan as a character and that scene was no doubt one of the most memorable of the franchise, but then to later reduce Perfect Cell to a joke? And suddenly make Gohan a sadist? Kinda underwhelmingLord Beerus wrote:So... you're not a fan of anything about SSJ2 Kid Gohan?
The same above, but I would say that enjoyed Goku triumph over Freeza because it was a "End of a Journey" thing, you could see all the way he came through at the beginning to the manga to this very point. And this is fortified with Bardock TV Special.kinisking wrote:Or ssj Goku?

I think those are the reasons why it's not underwhelming haha. I think it'd be more underwhelming if Gohan stayed the same and wasn't able to become much stronger (although I'd have preffered an even fight, Gohan never gets those),Noah wrote:I like Gohan as a character and that scene was no doubt one of the most memorable of the franchise, but then to later reduce Perfect Cell to a joke? Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
It's underwhelming cause Goku vs. Cell was a great fight and turns out Cell wasn't even trying, so seeing that Gohan finally was going to show what he was truly capable, I at least expected that he would give Cell a run for his money but not so easily, I wanted to see a good fight not just a curbstomp as Cell was humiliated and I would prefer Gohan with a silent anger persona than out of nothing "I want to make him suffer, dad" it doesn't suit to his character in my POV.kinisking wrote:I think those are the reasons why it's not underwhelming haha. Either his personality advances and he doesn't flip his wig constantly or he does. You can't have him suddenly being ultra calm and willing to humiliate himself one moment and then going ultra super rage to heights he's never seen before the next. Especially over the Bulma slap. His character is completely unbalanced. Why not rage boost against any number of other enemies he's faced in Super that are endangering one thing or another. Zamasu/Black KILLED Bulma and screwed his entire sons future while systematically hunting and attempting to kill him. I mean Vegeta had plenty more reason to rage boost over that than a stupid slap... this is why that scene is so forced and uneven for his character for me.kinisking wrote: 4 Years can change a person and the Boo saga already showed he was well on the way of becoming that person. You say he's unbalanced, but there's literally no contradiction in the observations you made.TheMikado wrote:You can't have him suddenly being ultra calm and willing to humiliate himself one moment and then going ultra super rage to heights he's never seen before the next. He was calm and willing to humiliate himself to protect bulma, the second she was hurt was when that went out the window. Remember this is a God of destruction. To Vegeta her life was in danger, why would he be calm anymore? Bulma wasn't killed in front of Vegeta, so it's a completely different story. There's an emotional disconnect when hearing about things compared to actually seeing them. Vegeta got angry about it, as hinted by his intense training, but not enough for a rage boost because of that.TheMikado wrote:Either his personality advances and he doesn't flip his wig constantly or he does. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
A character with a propensity to abruptly "rage out" over perceived slights and outrages. Allows himself to be repeatedly and consistently humiliated without any really conflict on his part. That seems like a contridiction to me. While both poles could theoretically exist the exaggeration of both scenarios to the extreme level they are taken to would does in my opinion show a lack of consistency. Vegeta should not have raged so hard and his displays for Beerus should have been much more begrudged. As it stands now the extreme presentation of those scenarios does make him look unbalanced as a character. Especially as I said, in context with the other scenarios which occurred in Super such as Bulma actually being killed.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:You say he's unbalanced, but there's literally no contradiction in the observations you made.TheMikado wrote:You can't have him suddenly being ultra calm and willing to humiliate himself one moment and then going ultra super rage to heights he's never seen before the next. You're comparing totally different situations. He was willing to humiliate himself to keep the peace, but got pissed off when some dick slapped his wife. Organic life forms react in dependence to any given situation, I hope this information helps Mikado-bot.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Look you can explain it however you want, my point is the rage boost is incredibly forced given context of everything else before and during Super. The My Bulma scene feels especially forced given everything that happens in the future Trunks arc. This far the only times we have seen Vegeta rage is over Trunks and Bulma, yet in the the Future Trunks arc they are both having all kinds of things happen to them and they aren't rage boosting and better yet somehow GOKU of all people gets the rage boost after HEARING about Zamasu killing the family that was of another timeline Goku. So suddenly Goku has an emotional connection about hearing something but not seeing while Vegeta doesn't??? The freaking known rager? That's what makes it look even more suspect. Not sure how you can justify one scenario and not the other .kinisking wrote:He was calm and willing to humiliate himself to protect bulma, the second she was hurt was when that went out the window.
