"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
If Trunks stated 10 years passed since Cell Games in his timeline and then went 17 years back to the past this definitely means Super is set in 778 at least during Black's arc in the manga.

Future Trunks and Present Trunks are not the exact same person. Just like Future Bulma isn't the exact same person as Present Bulma or Black is the exact same person as Future Zamasu. As far as we know, Kid Trunks didn't get bigger because he didn't have the same struggles as Future Trunks since one grew up in Hell, while one grew up in peace. Future Trunks also trained a hell of a lot more than Present Trunks that effects growth.Bullza wrote:They are the exact same person. The one who was brought up in the war torn world somehow had the better meals to grow up to be much bigger, taller and older than his alternate counterpart at the same age? You're looking for something that isn't there. As I said, Future Trunks and Present Trunks are not the same people. They grew up in different environments that does effect ones' growth.

So? The anime and manga aren't set in two different time periods. That's the Super's manga. In the anime, no such line was ever given. And even in the manga, it was said Trunks went back 17 years into the past, not 10, in Chapter 14.
I know that Trunks went back 17 years in time. I didn't say he went back 10 years.
It's been 10 years for Trunks since he took part in the Cell Games and also since he killed the Androids in his timeline which he did the day after the Cell Games from Trunks' perspective.
If he killed the Androids in Age 785 then 10 years on from that would be Age 795 which would be the year that Black "killed" Mai and Trunks used the time machine to go back 17 years to Age 778.
So as I said the BoG saga would be shortly after the wish to make people forget about Buu in Age 775. The RoF saga was say a year and a half after that which would be near the end of Age 776 or the start of Age 777. The Universe 6 saga which would be 8 months after that would be Age 777 and then an unknown amount of time after that the Copy Water arc happened and then the Future Trunks saga which would be Age 778.
It fits just fine.
What's wrong with that? Goku would have been born, the Oracle Fish gives Beerus the prophecy, he goes to sleep, some time after that Planet Vegeta is destroyed and when he wakes up he asks if Frieza destroyed it.Why would Beerus go to sleep over three years before Freeza destroyed Vegeta and then wonder if Freeza destroyed the planet?
Anime BOG takes place the same as the movies. None of the guides changed this time period no matter how you try to waggle it.
Beerus knew Freeza was going to destroy Planet Vegeta either because he order it or because he knew Freeza had it out for the Saiyans. He wouldn't just know that three years ahead of time, especially since Beerus treats Freeza's destruction of Planet Vegeta as a recent event.

Herms about the dub:Bullza wrote:Ehhhh so according to the dub the events of Dragon Ball Super take place several months after the wish to forget Buu which was six months after the death of Kid Buu.
That definitely does not put them in Age 778.
That once again brings me back to what I said recently about how it doesnt make sense for it to be that long afterward.
"Changing "some time later" to the more specific "several months later" is probably the only notable script change."
https://twitter.com/Herms98/status/817906559166484481
Japanese said "some time later", the dub put on their own "several months later" so we shouldn't take the dub translation as the truth.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I can't confirm if Future Trunks personally claimed that 10 years passed but I do know Future Trunks was currently in AGE 797 during the Future Trunks arc. With the Cell Game held in AGE 767, Future Trunks' alternate future set in AGE 784 (17 year difference at play), & Future Trunks killing Future Cell in AGE 787 (he waited three years for Future Cell after Future No. 17 & Future No. 18 died), we should reach AGE 797 once more.emperior wrote:If Trunks stated 10 years passed since Cell Games in his timeline and then went 17 years back to the past this definitely means Super is set in 778 at least during Black's arc in the manga.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
If it was like you say then 13 years would have passed since Cell Games. Trunks waited and trained for 3 years waiting for Cell to show up. Then other 7 years passed and he went back 17 years to the past.Nejishiki wrote:I can't confirm if Future Trunks personally claimed that 10 years passed but I do know Future Trunks was currently in AGE 797 during the Future Trunks arc. I think it's a given we're in Age 778, at least in the manga.

On another note, is it true that one-hour time limit for the Potara Fusion originally came from Dragon Ball Heroes? According to what I have read this happened when Vegeta and Trunks Potara fuse. In the game, the Supreme Kai of Time said there's a one-hour limit for non-Kais.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Well, as I was sneakily asking, when did Future Trunks claim "10 years"? I legitimately want to know so that I can profile it. Assuming Dragon Ball Super follows Resurrection F's AGE 779 (and it can't exactly be confirmed yet), the Future Trunks arc should well be into AGE 780 in the alternate present, making Future Trunks' era AGE 797. From there, you're just working backwards. Dragon Ball Super's manga never references any time to my knowledge. It always claims that "time passed" without a frame of reference.emperior wrote:If it was like you say then 13 years would have passed since Cell Games. EDIT: I think I found the confusion. Goku Black arrived one year before Future Trunks' departure (AGE 796), correct? That specific AGE is probably being neglected in counts.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
They are biologically and physically the same. Future Trunks having struggles did not magically make him a foot taller at the same age. Training does not increase the rate that your bones grow.Future Trunks and Present Trunks are not the exact same person.
There's no two ways about this, the 14 year old Trunks who resembles a 14 year old is clearly and obviously older than the smaller Trunks who looks like a child.
What I said is exactly what was said in the manga which takes precedence over any guide. It's been 10 years for Trunks. If it were the same Age as was given in the guide then it wouldn't be 10 years it would be 12 years, that's the simple fact of what was said.Anime BOG takes place the same as the movies. None of the guides changed this time period no matter how you try to waggle it.
That's not my opinion, that's not an assumption or speculation, that's just what is said in the manga for all to see.
In the anime Vegeta referred to Oob as a newborn when 5 year olds are not newborn.
Why? All he did was order Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta and apparently it took him 3 years until he did so.He wouldn't just know that three years ahead of time, especially since Beerus treats Freeza's destruction of Planet Vegeta as a recent event.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
It's in the Super manga when Goku and Trunks are sparring. Goku says Trunks is amazing and even stronger than Gohan back then as in at the Cell Games and Trunks says it's been 10 years.Well, as I was sneakily asking, when did Future Trunks claim "10 years"? I legitimately want to know so that I can profile it.
After the Cell Games Trunks returned to his timeline which was apparently Age 785. If it's been 10 years for him to then it would be Age 795. If he went back 17 years then it should be Age 778.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Pretty sure a literal translation for that line would give the time duration as the more vague "over 10 years." At least I recall someone translating it as that.Bullza wrote:It's in the Super manga when Goku and Trunks are sparring. Then we would need an accurate translation. I find "over 10 years" to be more plausible considering they are avoiding giving specific datesdbgtFO wrote:Pretty sure a literal translation for that line would give the time duration as the more vague "over 10 years." If it was over 10 years then it could fit with the guide but it would still make several other things weird.
If the Universe 6 saga was in Age 780 and Uub would be 6 years old then it makes no sense for Vegeta to refer to him a newborn.
Whichever it ends up being it was done in a very poor way.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Vegeta had no clue how old Uub is since he doesn't know when he was reborn or if he was even born yet. Toriyama said that the rebirthing process can take awhile, with Buu being the exception since he was so evil so eh purified fast. Freeza has been dead over 16 years before Resurrection 'F' and he still hasn't been reborn despite being an evil SOB.Bullza wrote:If it was over 10 years then it could fit with the guide but it would still make several other things weird.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
You're over thinking things again like with Trunks' age inconsistency. It's not about Vegeta and his assumptions, he doesn't know what Toriyama said, it's not something you're supposed to break down to make things fit.HeroR wrote:Vegeta had no clue how old Uub is since he doesn't know when he was reborn or if he was even born yet. The writer is telling the audience that Uub is a newborn. If Uub was born in Age 774 and this is supposed to be set in Age 780 then he'd be 6 and certainly not a newborn.
Between things like that and it taking 4 years for Vegeta to take Trunks to the park, 4 years for Hercule to get the award, Trunks being considerably younger looking than his 14 year old counterpart, Bulma not seeing Goku for 5 years etc then things are still up in the air a little.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I am not the one over thinking things. You're the one cherry-picking information to support the idea that BOG in Super happened only a few months after Buu. You're also the one who keeps going on about how Present Trunks doesn't look like 14 years old Future Trunks.Bullza wrote:You're over thinking things again like with Trunks' age inconsistency. Again, Vegeta doesn't know when Kid Buu was reborn. That is fact since not even Goku knows. Only that Uub was promised to him.

You can't say that for sure since Saiyan biology is an unknown.Bullza wrote:They are biologically and physically the same. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Of course you are, you make excuses for everything. Even going as far as trying to explain Trunks being a foot taller and looking considerably older because of....struggles.I am not the one over thinking things.
There's no cherry picking when it says right there in the episode that Uub is a newborn. You can't assume that Vegeta's assumption led him to just automatically say he's specifically a newborn. That's just you saying that in an attempt to make things fit.
It's not cherry picking when Bulma said she hasn't seen Goku in 5 years which would be Age 779 yet she's seen him many times since anyway which is the complete opposite of not seeing him.
It's not cherry picking when the manga clearly said that Trunks in the History of Trunks is 14 years old and the Trunks in Super looks nothing remotely like that even though he's supposedly the same age.
That is simply what is said.

And you're cherry-picking information that supports your own view. Not the first time either.Bullza wrote:Of course you are, you make excuses for everything. It's not an excuse to say that Future and Present Trunks are not the same person. They're not. They grew up in completely worlds and environments.
Vegeta has no clue when Uub was born, that is a fact. So his statement on the matter means jack. Did Goku tell Vegeta that Uub was reborn right after their battle? Did he asked Yemma that Uub was born? If not, how would Vegeta know when Uub was born when he didn't know he even existed until Goku said that Kid Buu was promised to him.
Bulma's five year line can be ignored and dropped whenever they reached the EOZ. It was never a big deal except for those who made it a big deal.
Future Trunks is not Present Trunks not matter how much you try to say they are.
Guides and the official timeline has not changed. Outside of you cherry-picking statements or saying how 14 years old Present Trunks doesn't look like his future counterpart, who's now sporting blue hair btw, nothing goes against the EOZ's timeframe.
