Really? The difference between the DB dubs (the pre-Kai ones) and Funi's other dubs is that they stick close to the Japanese. And would it make any difference in quality if a DB dub was union? Union or non-union, it doesn't matter as long as the dub is good.

Pretty sure the biggest difference was also in the acting. And I would say yes, it probably would make a difference if a DB dub was union. Low paying anime dubs typically don't attract the best and most talented actors, particularly if the dubs are recorded in areas where acting talent don't congregate. Some might be willing to take a pay cut in order to do them (most likely because they're fans of anime or desperate for work) but for the most part there's very little to gain from having your name on anime credits.

It probably has more to do with them being busy on other projects, although it wouldn't surprise me if there was also a stigma against anime within their professional social circles. I suppose some people could also just struggle with dubbing and matching the characters lips.

Those people don't have problems in struggling with dubbing. They have done dubs, but those have higher-budgets, like the Studio Ghibli dubs and the Afro Samurai dub. If dubs had higher budgets, then we could probably see them in more anime.

It's a little bit of all of that. Pre-lay (domestic) animation jobs pay way more, and some actors don't do dubbing because they see it as a way of being labeled as a "dub actor" and not getting a shot to be in pre-lay projects (personally I think that's over-the-top, as some actors have actually gotten shots at pre-lay projects because of the following they developed as dub actors, but to be fair, there's only so many actors who fit that description). In other cases, production companies are able to attract more big-name actors for dubs with bigger budgets. An associate of mine had a small part in Ponyo, and he told me that even though that was technically a dub, their budget was such that they paid the actors like it was a pre-lay project.

Goten sounds great in toonami asia dub (in preview atleast)... want to hear more of lex lang before passing judgement because he did sound good after eating lunch and he was obviously making reference to his kenshiro with those weird kung fu noises lol!!!

Don't know how much of it is true but Animenewsnetwork dragon ball super page says Michael Sinterniklaas is VA of buu....
Max Mittelman and Spike Spencer are part of cast too but their roles are unknown... who do you think these guys could be playing??

I'm pretty sure they're just guessing. Even if those actors all end up being in this dub I guarantee you it will be by coincidence.

The thought of Martin playing Freeza seriously sounds amazing. He has experience as a VA and I doubt Bang Zoom could get anyone better to play Freeza considering Chris is out of the question.

Not him. He denied it outright on his Reddit account. He's also not near the studio in any way. He lives in Texas and Bang Zoom is in California.

To be honest, I didn't think it sounded like him at all.

That's a legitimate possibility since LK does live in LA. I think that'd be a fun casting choice!
