Should Freeza call Goku Kakarot?

I think Freeza should call Goku Kakarot because that's the name he heard first (by dying Vegeta). To Freeza, Goku was a Saiyan and not an Earthling, so he should use Goku's Saiyan name.

I think it suits Freeza better that way, because that implies that he was part of the same empire / life as Vegeta and the other Saiyans. He did share a great portion of his history with Vegeta in the planet trade empire.

What do you guys think?

But he doesn't know Goku's Saiyan name is Kakarrot... So why would he call him by that name? I mean, he knows Goku's a Saiyan, he knows that his father is Bardock (I'm not sure if he only knows how he looks or what's his name, too), and he knows Raditz, but as far as we know he didn't hear anything about Goku from the moment he was born until the moment they met on Namek. And even though he hears Vegeta calling him by that name, it would be more logical if he called him by the name he heard first.

But Kakarot is the first name Freeza heard about Goku, when Vegeta recognized Goku before he died, is it?

"Kakarot?? That name is Saiyan!" and then he remembers Bardock and his attempt to stop Freeza. Freeza didn't know about Goku's existence until that point (although he did know that there was a Saiyan on Earth with a child).

Anyway, Freeza considers himself better than Goku, so thinking him as a "lowly" saiyan, Freeza only calls him Monkey.

Well, he rarely even calls him Goku. So, I'd doubt he'd ever take to calling him Kakarot.

If he knew him like he did Vegeta, he probably would.

He only ever really refers to him by name after Goku does his little "Ore wa Super Saiyajin Son Goku da" speech, doesn't he?

He uses the name most familiar to him.

Though he recognises it as a Saiyan name, and thinks of Goku as a Saiyan, everyone around him was calling this person; "Goku." and he never knew Goku as Kakarot, but as Goku, if that makes sense lol.

He came to know him as Goku, and so he called him by that. If I knew someone for ages as Tom, and then heard someone call him... Thomas, I'd pick up on it, but continue to call him Tom. Not quite the same as there isn't a culture difference on the two different names, but you get my point.

Freeza and Coola generally refer to him as "Saiyan" or such

You're right. And to be honest i think the only other full blooded Saiyan in the series/movies are Turles and Paragus. I think.

Freeza wouldn't know Goku's name. He recognized Bardock before and put two and two together right before the fight. From what I remember he only calls Goku: (Son) Goku, saiyan, saiyan monkey, and SSj...

Well, he did refer to him as Son Goku during the Trunks-episodes.

You're right. That was the Japanese version. He also shouted out Goku's name when he was in HFIL teamed up with Cell and his Ginyu force.

Yes I agree. Freeza obviously doesn't care about Gokou and wouldn't worry himself about wether he was addressing Gokou by his "true" name or not... He mostly throws out some derogatory name like what others have mentioned, or simply "Saiyajin." He honestly doesn't care or give it much thought and since he mostly hears the character referred to as "Gokou" thats what he'll say.
