No one was making a huge deal out of it, but the fact remains that the audio mix is subpar, and that's a problem that most likely won't be fixed on home releases.
It seems like it was a big deal when no one was talking about the voices or the script.
No one's talking about them because they're just fine, much better than last week, although everyone does seem a bit rusty. Sabat's newer Vegeta even grew on me.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions, including that the performances were sub-par and that the mixing was off, but to be totally honest, I didn't get those impressions at all--I thought both were great!

Maybe my perspective is off because I'm seeing Super for the first time as the episodes air on Adult Swim, but nothing struck me as weird about the sound mix, and I really enjoyed this episode and the performances in it. As I get older, I find that I like these "slice of life" episodes more and more, and it was really cool to see what a casual family day for Vegeta's family is like.

PS: I friggin' lost it when Vegeta got angry during the fire dance scene!
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I'm partial, I admit, since I've seen each of these episodes at least 3 times for reviews that I'll probably never release. Any little imperfection is bound to weigh on me more.

There's more to analyzing dubs than just scripts & voices.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Alexis Tipton sounds so much like Laura Bailey it's scary!
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Not really. That's part of a voice actor's specialties is how well they can replicate other voices. There are a lot of soundalikes in the voice acting field.
However, while she's fine, her voice is a bit too deep to be an exact match. Seriously, I think the next episode of Kai is going to have Trunks in it based on Gohan saying that he needed a disguise at the end of the last episode. Listen t Laura's actual voice for Trunks & then get a clip for Tipton, or go look up clips on YouTube from FUNimation where Gohan's talking to Bulma & then a clip of Trunks in Super. You can immediately tell that there's a difference.

Yeah they had Videl, Goten, Chi-Chi, Erasa, and Sharpner listed in the credits as well, so it looks like they used Kai's by mistake.

And they played the short opening for the 11:30pm showing....why? I'm starting to feel like Toonami is partially responsible for the screw ups

Something about the English dub on TV gives me a different impression about the animation.
It's crisp and layered, was it always like this O .0 or is it just the first 2 episodes that look good?

There's barely any animation in the first 4 episodes, so the character art looks much better. However, even that pretty much collapses during and after Episode 5.

Super's animation has always been consistently decent. It's only certain episodes, or shots that have been off model. They're also using Japan's Blu-Ray masters, so who knows.

And how is it as bad as Episode 5 afterwards?

If I remember right, Toonami usually shows the full opening for a show's premiere and shows the trimmed versions for the subsequent episodes. Sometimes they won't air the full opening even for the premiere - I don't remember ever seeing the full opening for Gurren Lagann on Toonami, for example.

And what made you think they wouldn't? It's pretty well established in the dub terminologies at this point.

I only say this because they used to keep the first show on the block's opening in whole but now I guess that's no longer the case

I didn't say that, I'm saying that everything for quite a while after episode 5, with a few exceptions, is disappointing. Even the better episodes had something detrimental, like a boring storyboard or inconsistent artwork, or even bad computerized effects or poorly blended palettes and backgrounds. Nothing that we don't all know about already.

I found the dub for Episode 2 to be a pretty good. I do wish that they market the 8:00 PM showing. The ads say that they say "11:30 PM" and not "8:00 PM and 11:30 PM".

Yeah I know, I didn't think they'd actually change it but still

The ads are for Toonami, so...
