How many episodes for the Universe Survival Arc?

That's a question that popped up in my mind, just by witnessing the amount of material & hype we're getting from official sources!
I think we hadn't that much stuff so far, neither in the Future Trunks Arc (As far as i can remember, there was only one poster with Black, Trunks & Mai with a shotgun).

Also, we'll have a brand new Opening, so a huge amount of work was put by Toei just on that stuff.

So far, Dragon Ball Super sagas lenght were:

Battle of the Gods Arc:14
Resurrection F Arc: 12
Champa Arc: 13
Future Trunks Arc: 20

Universe Survival Arc: ?


How many episodes do you expect, and how many of them would you like?

I think i would be bored for a 40 episodes tournament only stuff, hopefully we'll get some decent amount of battles, before something evil happens with bigger implications!

I hope they will take their time. I prefer 5 episodes of boring and slooooow power-ups old DBZ style rather than 2 rushed episodes of unexplained asspulls and plot armor (cough cough Ep.65-66 cough cough).

i think 18-25 episodes are good for a tournament not more...People forget that the first tournament arc in Dragonball was only 16 episodes and the Piccolo jr
arc tournament 23 episodes so 30-40 episodes are to much in my opinion

It'll last longer than it should, so I imagine it will last two cours at the least. Even three cours is possible, if they really want to show off the new characters.

I think the arc will last somewhere between 60 - 80 episodes. Oh yeah, I'm certain that Toei are gonna milk the crap out of this arc.

FT arc was extremely milked in the anime version (trough the ending was hell lot rushed) so I'm pretty sure this arc will as well. And honestly, I really want Toei to expand the plot.

Every arc from Super feels like is somehow writed like a movie. Stories that in Toriyama's script are really short compared to the original manga's arcs, and that I'm pretty sure could be adapted into movies (in FT arc that would destroy Zamasu's development trough). They feel closed, like if some of them are not important in the long run (RoF and in a sense FT arcs seems to be made that way trough the latter added some world building) and they are not complicated stories.

However, Toei really should create differents subplots for thw tournament. The losing universes are going to be destroyed, people need to team up and think of a way to save themselves. A revolution against Zeno is not possible, so maybe some gods will somehow play dirty.

I'm just saying that Toriyama maybe is still writing arcs that way and he doesn't think on this arc like a great tournament event that could develop a hell lot of subplots , characters and backstories, so Toei needs to do it.

I think it'll be long, they'll be more fights in the anime than in the manga, that's what I'm betting. Also kind of have a predictiom that they'll do a side story for the charcters who were left out of the roster.

I'll give them a chance. I'm hesitant after what happened with Champa, but I'm willing to give the arc a try.

I'll give this arc 30 at most. Super hasn't really conditioned me to think they're going for a long arc here.

Two cours is what I think it will last as well. And, I really don't want it to last that long, but they'll milk this shit to the absolute max. Hell, it could even be longer than two cours.

I doubt it will last more than 26, none of the story arcs lasted this long and this is no exception. Sure lots of characters will be introduced, but for Toei to focus on each of them is crazy. The trend has been faster pased episodes and I'm fine with that.

Before we knew much about the arc, I thought it would be huge, an arc that would take the series to at least 100, but it's shaping up to be a more grounded tournament similar to the Champa arc. I think it will be in the 20-26 episode range (which would still go to 100 episodes).

I'm not altogether super excited to go into another tournament. I would've preferred another, different arc before this one. However, as long as it's like "Hey guys, let's do a tourname-oh, shit, wait, there's some other stuff going on here..." like they did with the Buu arc. Surely that's how it'll be, I can't imagine it just being a "here's a bunch of match-ups, thanks very much, see ya later" type of deal.

Jap something crazy will definitely happen i don't think this tournament will end peaceful with all the new characters

50+ episodes probably. The tournament is too big for it to be shorter than any of the other arcs. Just seeing all the 10 fighters in the tournament will not make the tournament boring, unless Toriyama is just going to mess around with some of them. If that happens then the arc needs to be as short as possible.

i mean the universe 6/7 tournament has had 13 episode with only 10 fighters but now there are 105 fighters so it must be a really long arc
