Just saw it on the official Olympic Channel Facebook page and thought I'd share it here.

I'm very glad Dragon Ball is getting this kind of mainstream attention, but I don't really understand what this means. I don't really watch the Olympics, what does it mean to be an ambassador?

Basically they're kinda just like mascots for the event.

Goku's a fair choice. He loves physical activity and competing in tournaments.

I don't think the others work out too well though :P

I'd watch an Olympics style arc of Super. Gokû does fit as someone who would have fun competing in Olympic events.

I'm curious if they're gonna keep the Maho Precures around though by the time it's 2020, since Precure reboots their cast each year like sentai shows do.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get a mini arc of that in 2020 if the show is still going on.

This has turned out to be a good day, Goku is an embassador at the Olympics, we finally have an adult running America and I got an A on my test. :mrgreen: :clap:

Would be awesome to have an olympics themed arc, that is of course if Super will still be going in 2020.

Glad to see some representation of Dragon Ball! Naruto and Jibanyan are cool too, but I wonder why Pikachu is absent.

True, but Yo-Kai Watch is heavily advertised here in North America, so it would seem odd that Jibanyan is there if that is the reason for lack of Pikachu. Not to mention, Yo-Kai Watch is a video game series with a spin-off anime, which makes it the odd one out.

Also, it looks like Gokū's gi with the go kanji is the standard one now. Unless it's just because Super is using it, of course. Hopefully someday the F gi will return. Someday...

Just only anime characters for the 2020 Olympics? I would think Godzilla would have been a good choice to go along with the other characters since he is probably the most Japanese pop icon and has been a huge influence in pop culture for 6 decades.

To me this is a good marketing strategy. From a total obssessed fan, this looks like it will bring in a lot of new fans thinking they know it all. :oops:

I don't think that's the case I'm pretty sure dragon Ball super anime/manga and DBZ Kai is doing that job but the ambassador things is just for nostalgia through it is a good marketing strategy
