Yeah, the price is a little insane. Wish I could have it though...

Damnit, 500 bucks >.<
Considering the value of the box, I am charging a flat $50 for USPS Priority Mail. However the item will be sent via Registered Mail (necessitating a signature upon delivery) with automatic insurance guaranteeing that your package will arrive at your doorstep unscathed. This fee will be waived if you choose to Buy-it-Now, or I will only charge the shipping fee only once if you win the auction for both Dragon Boxes. (However, they will still be sent in separate packages should you win both items.)
Does this mean he might or already did sell both Dragon Boxes? Hmm...

Maybe he's going to list the other one shortly? Cause the 2nd one is the only item he has for sale right now...or maybe it did sell.

Actually, I think it's more of a cut-and-paste job he forgot to edit. This is about the third time I've seen this particular box listed (same seller, too). Guess no one else wants to spend that much on it and the seller doesn't want to face that fact. :?

He's attempted to sell it thrice with the same amount of money? Hmm, this could work
*Starts saving for $250*

The first Dragon Box has already been listed and sold.

So what's a good price for this, considering that it's in near-perfect condition?

$700 is a fair price, in my opinion. These boxes were sold for what, 800-900 dollars when they were first sold...? As a limited edition, pre-order only item. On Yahoo Auctions these sets cost you... oh right, your first born child. :P

They were? I thought it was more like 500 - 600 dollars. Well, If your right I can see how 700 dollars would be a fair price. :?

I don't get how anyone could pay even 500$ for a Dragonbox...but that's just me.

It's the video and audio quality, man...! Also, the whole convenient issue of it being the entire series (minus Z being in two separate sets) from Toei themselves. And all the extras too, we're talking TV specials, the OVA footage, commercials, scouters, skateboards, wall-scrolls, umm... Yeah! Needless to say, to many here who did get the boxes, they were well worth it. I will side with ya' though on the aspect that I'll never spend that much money on any single item regarding a television show, but some are that hardcore that they'll import said releases aimed at a completely different audience (the Japanese fans), subs or no.

DragonBox Z Volume 1 and 2 were 100,000 yen each (or $825.00 in today's exchange).

The DragonBall DragonBox was 110,000 yen (or $908.00).

Since stuff that's limited tends to appreciate instead of depreciate, $700 is a mighty fair price.

69 volumes of DragonBall Z (uncut 4:3, $24.95 each MSRP), plus two season sets ($49.95 MSRP) = $1821.45 for all of DBZ in English (and with varying aspect ratios and bullshit). Add in $49.90 for the two television specials, so $1871.35.

Or...

Two DragonBoxes. Fully restored, complete and in consistent format. $1650.00 MSRP.

HM, I WONDER WHICH TO CHOOSE LAWL ;p

Edit: Rounded the MSRP and messed up my figures before, oops.

It's not overpriced. It's expensive.

'nuff said.

Indeed it is expensive but so were they originally.
I myself had to pay somewhere around 1100 euro's since the tax and stuff with customs increases the normal price by 21 and 3,5 percent.
Anyway I'd say if you have the money go buy it although it is less special if you don't have the first volume, since it breaks up the Cell saga.

Nice to see one pop up again, but I really don't have (nor do I think I ever will) have the money to buy an expensive box set in a language I can't even understand. Just not really practical; guess I'm just not that big of a fan.

Only real use I think I'd ever have for a DragonBox is the awesome-tastic, HQ, remastered footage for AMVs, all in one place.

Argh, they had lower-priced discounts last time >.>
But where do they get their Dragon Boxes from?
The Dragon Ball one's sold for 105,000 yen. That's $916 CAD. Not bad, but still too much for me =(
