Why wouldn't they use audio from Kai? Super's more of a sequel to Kai anyways rather than the original Z, plus it's a better dub. It was a reunion movie anyways with the flashback being in the extended TV version, so it makes sense.

Most DBZ filler was good, at least outside the Namek arc.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
The only filler I actually liked was the Otherworld Tournament after the Cell Games because at least that was entertaining. Then again, I just hate pointless filler in anything, especially anime, unless it's stuff that the manga author wanted in the manga, but couldn't due to time constraints with the publishing of the chapters.precita wrote:Most DBZ filler was good, at least outside the Namek arc.

Most fillers expand the universe far better than the manga does, which is often too rushed.Scsigs wrote:The only filler I actually liked was the Otherworld Tournament after the Cell Games because at least that was entertaining. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
Depends on what you're talking here. If it's Dragon Ball, I agree with most of the first series, as that filler actually felt like stuff Toriyama would've written if he had the time. DBZ...no. A ton of the filler was devoted to fight scenes that weren't in the manga, unnecessary amounts of talking, & standoffs, or power ups. Much like Sailor Moon Crystal which, in addition to taking out ALL of the filler from the original anime, I appreciated the characters better because they don't all come off as giant tools. Not to mention that every section in Hell from Z is negated in RF due to it being the interpretation of being personalized Hells rather than one general spirit realm that Z introduced.precita wrote:Most fillers expand the universe far better than the manga does, which is often too rushed.Scsigs wrote:The only filler I actually liked was the Otherworld Tournament after the Cell Games because at least that was entertaining. The Garlic Junior filler is pointless, hence why I love how Team Four Star skipped over it in DBZA, the Otherworld Tournament, as I said already, was fun, & any other filler was just bad in Z. I prefer how Super does its filler, in between arcs to give a little break & fun adventures with the characters in various situations. That's why i like the Otherworld Tournament, that was a good bit of in-between fluff before the Buu Saga. Plus Pikkon. That is all.

Unlike last week this week's 11:30 airing has the full Chouzetsu Dynamic.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Minus Goten, the voices are getting more consistent. Goten's still too high pitched for my liking, but everyone else is settling in nicely who weren't quite comfortable at the start. Chi Chi's much improved over Episode 1.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
It wasn't. Kai TFC never aired or had been seen saying last time on Dragon Ball Z Kai wouldn't have made sense at all. Since that was the battle with Cell. Z Kai is still Z so it works.mecha3000 wrote:I mean, I figured they would probably use the Kai audio, but I still find it interesting to think a redub is now the definitive dub. I'm not sure if it was that way for the Japanese version, but it's almost like Funimation telling you "Kai is the TRUE definitive dubbed version of Z". Also, I like how Krillin said: "Putting a car in my pocket never gets old". Pretty amusing line that I'm not sure was in the original (I think in the original, Krillin LITERALLY explained to the audience the process of putting a car into a capsule, which is something I didn't care for because it felt like a kids show dialogue).
Still can't wait to own the series for myself though, because although it's nostalgic - I'm getting tired of having to wait every Saturday night (when I have work the very next morning) to catch Super AND Kai. I really hope Super releases sometime close to OR after Kai comes out on Blu-Ray/DVD.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
Does it even really matter that Kai TFC didn't air before Super for them to have put in "previously on Dragon Ball Z: Kai"? Any DB fan worth their salt, unless they watch the original Z out of nostalgia, is going to go from Kai to Super when rewatching the shows after they're out on Blu-Ray, so it would maintain consistency, but since Kai is, literally, Z with all most of the filler removed, it's not like it's that bad.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:It wasn't. Yes she is the only 18 to me.
The dub is definitely getting back into the swing of it. The voices for Beerus and Whis are amazing, those guys have great acting and voice talent for sure, especially Whis. I know they are coming from Battle of Gods but they sound consistent and have sounded magnificent from the very start.
The only thing that caught me off guard was Chi Chi saying to Bulma happy birthday girl! As if she was trying way too hard to be hip. Isn't Chi Chi like 45 or close to it here lol

Chi Chi's actually closer to Goku's age, if not the same age as him. Bulma's 38 by the time the party rolls around, so she's actually in her early-mid 30s. We forgetting the original Dragon Ball series now?nato25 wrote:Yes she is the only 18 to me.

My bad I was factoring in end of Z which of course hasn't happened yet and Chi Chi has just always seemed older than Bulma from Z onwards by virtue of design. I've watched and rewatched the original a couple of times at least.
I feel the dub may have taken slightly too many liberties with the script this episode. Rewatching the original subs and Chi Chi just says congratulations Bulma which seems much more in her character.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Bulma was born in Age 733, Chi Chi was born in Age 737 (same year as Goku), the events of Battle of Gods occur in Age 778. Chi Chi should be 41 and Bulma should be 45. Seems Bulma has taken to lying about her age... Or Toriyama just sucks at math. One or the other. (These years are taken from the timeline in Chouzenshuu 4, published in May 2013.)Scsigs wrote:Chi Chi's actually closer to Goku's age, if not the same age as him. Solid solid dub, but King Kai was a blabbering mess Sean seems to getting worse I'd even say S3 Sean's King Kai was better! Beerus and Whis are such a delight! Maybe retellings are not bad helps everyone get back in the groove of things.
