Gohan in DragonBall!?! (Pre-Z)

Post by Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece » Sun Jun 10, 2007 6:16 am

I might just be really late with this one, but why is Gohan in the 2nd Ending Credits for DragonBall if he isn't born yet?

Well, now that I think about it, it does sorta look like a really wierd Yamcha...

Looks more like a mix of Gohan from android saga and Yamcha, early Dragonball. But it's just crappy drawn I guess. He is obviously not supposed to be the main character to be shown.

Hahaha what the hell is that? Did they repaint his face and if so how was it originally?

If I recall correctly, Turles was forcing Gohan's eyes open. Ocean thought that wasn't appropriate so they censored his hands out of Gohans face and attempted to redraw Gohan's eyes where Turles's hands once were.

Ocean thought nothing! Ocean is just a dubbing studio!

Well then whoever thought it was a smart idea to censor the scene.
I just went with the company Conan stated in his comment. Pardon my ignorance

FUNi were in charge of the digital paint editing with Saban's influencing eye over their shoulders. Blame them?

That image is from the cover of chapter 178 which is in vol. 15 of the manga. In there, you can clearly see the scar and tell it's Yamcha. I think it's on the back cover of vol. 14 US version as well.

The thing that bugs me, is that the very same shot is in the intro to the show in its uncut glory

If you're talking about Rock the Dragon, then yes. It's at about the 30 second mark.

Further proof that Yamcha is Gohan's REAL father! I swear, though, they do look soooo much a like so often....

Some things used to be weird like that back then. Like how the Sailor Moon promos and PSAs showed scenes that weren't seen in the episode.

I'd definitely say it's a badly drawn Yamcha, it's the only conclusion I can assume.

So I have observed too. Maybe Yamcha is the strongest of them all, but he doesn't fight to let the others improve. So therefore Gohan got strong, because of Yamcha's powerlevel. :P

I thought that since this was the Ending Song, I thought that it didn't need to make sense, making me think that it was Kid Goku... beside Goku...
