The greenish tint on LGS is probably just for that to distinguish but the bluish purple one is because he was being controlled by his father with that little crown thing he had on his forehead. He looks like any normal super saiyan with out that little crown thing.successoroffate wrote:So, let's see if I can throw in my question... Why is LGS's hair green/yellowish transformed and purple on base form? Is it because they are trying to distinguish it from the regular Super Saiyan?

Yeah, but if it was Toei doing this stuff, I wouldn't care. I actual really like Toriyama and his work, and this kind of stuff is just annoying.sintzu wrote:We'd probably get more if he wasn't involved and it would most likely be bad as well.Soppa Saia People wrote:This is the type of shit that makes me wish Toriyama was done with franchise after the manga ended.
I'd rather have a Broly clone that has a good personality over the same old boring Broly we know from the movies which is excatly what we'd get if he wasn't involved.
I have borderline personality disorder, if my posts ever come off as aggressive or word vomit-y to you, please let me know.

I feel like I'm on the other end of the spectrum from most people here. Stuff like this and the end of the Trunks arc (two much-maligned, controversial additions) are the type of thing that actually makes Toriyama continuing the story feel justified.Soppa Saia People wrote:On the the other hand, this is the type of shit that makes me wish Toriyama was done with franchise after the manga ended.
If it's just going to be more gods, more tournaments, more supervillains, it's whatever; we're not adding anything noteworthy to a story that was constantly evolving and satisfactorily completed twenty years ago.
The trollier and weirder Toriyama gets, the more I feel like Super's worthwhile. If you're going to raise a series from the dead for a two-decades-post midquel, doing a bit of winking meta-stuff to take the piss out of its image in popular culture, or using the format to tell unexpectedly weird, bittersweet stories the original never tackled, is exactly the kind of thing I want to see.
This might sound weird, but girl-Broly seems like it was brought to us by the same Toriyama who wrote the end of the Trunks arc. And that's a Toriyama I like.

Its been either painfully recycling designs to generic and silly ones. If this is the direction Super is going let alone the rest of the franchise, I really have no hope for it. I mean the most hyped up characters since the first movie and you get characters that look like henchmen. Really.Shinomori wrote:Man, I knew this was coming because of all the characters that would be introduced in this arc, but MAN! These characters designs absolutely suck! You got a clown for a god of destruction? Come on man. I know Toriyama likes wacky designs, but I don't know if I can take this stuff anymore. Then of course you have all the retread designs with Frost (Freeza look alike) coming back, and now we are even getting a Broly look alike that happens to be female. The retreads are lazy in my opinion, but the least they could have done was give a female super saiyan her own unique look. No, instead they basically made her look like a male super saiyan, who is an exact clone of Broly himself. I just about had it with this series.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

I came here hoping it was fake, I'd just saw a short 3 second clip of the transformation on Facebook and thought there is no way this could be real.

It definitely has had it's chances go up, that's for sure. Agreed about Broly. I'm giving this character a chance cause it isn't fair to knock a character who we don't even know anything about yet. Though, I don't think Super is bad. It has a lot of things that is hilarious/ridiculously frustrating to me at times, but I've enjoyed it for the most part. These past few episodes have been quite enjoyable as well.sintzu wrote:You're probably right to a certain degree but I think it's more likely now than it was before.TheMathemagician wrote:I just personally think he won't have SSJ3.

What's wrong with having a strong female character? I understand thinking strong female characters aren't necessary (I disagree with this, but I understand it) but why would you get mad about this?Gog wrote:I never. Because at the time when I wrote this Post I was pissed off, not at that we have a new female strong character. As ridiculous as the idea of a female Broly is, it's nice that we're getting some actual female fighters in the upcoming arc. It's also nice to see that at least one of the Gods of Destruction is female.
Re: You wanted strong women in Dragon Ball? (spoilers)
I was thinking about something (that most likely won't be the case). Maybe Female Broli's transformation isn't complete, I mean, we only saw a few seconds of she growing a lot but nothing else, maybe she keeps transforming after that into something completely different, is an idea that I got after watching the PV again, but really, It won't be the case, I'm 99% sure.

That's why I said semi. Broly isn't canon, but Legendary Super Saiyan is.AnimeMaakuo wrote:Canon to you, but not to me. Broly is a movie character.KinguKurimuzon wrote:I'm fucking floored. I really have no idea what to say about this, who the hell expected the first female Super Saiyan in canon to be fucking fem-Broly? Even then, that's not getting into how Broly is now semi-canon, I guess. I'm not even conflicted, I seriously can't wrap my head around the fact that this is actually happening.

The character, the original Super Saiyan is. The form however was made specifically for Broly and his movie. Yes it was designed by Akira Toriyama, but the whole premise was proposed by the guys at Toei that were behind the movies at the timeKinguKurimuzon wrote:That's why I said semi. However, if this is in fact a Legendary Super Saiyan (they could call it something else) then the form will be canon. And I'll be extremely interested to see where they take that if that's the case.

I just realized; when I think about some of the Brolli gag videos that used to be popular on niconicodouga, female!Brolli, or at least her transformed state, makes a lot more sense.

I've never been the biggest Broly fan anyway. I thought he had a good "look" but aside from that he is pretty meh. Easily the most overrated character in the whole series.
I'm not bothered about a female Broly though, or a Female LSSJ. I'm just happy for us to be having another strong, female character. I'm not insecure enough to be concerned by a strong, female character. I've always liked Chi-Chi and #18, and I liked Zangya as well.

Why are you assuming she is strong and that Piccolo, Gohan or any other Universe 7 can't beat her.precita wrote:Probably, but it depends if either Goku or Vegeta face fem-Broly.
Maybe Gohan or Piccolo will fight her instead, so we won't know how truly powerful she is.

Can't wait to see all the people complaining now praising it later once it shits all over Broly and she turns out to be so interesting we will all cry for more.
Just for the amount of Saiyan lore we will be getting I'm already extremely hyped. And the canonization of a badass concept is a dream coming true.

Re: You wanted strong women in Dragon Ball? (spoilers)
I've never been a big fan of Broly given how over the top everything about him is, so I am a bit skeptical at first glance, but I think there is potential to make this work. If the character is rounded out a bit, there's a possibility that it won't seem forced or like empty fan service. The fact that it's a small female saiyan actually makes the contrast before and after the (presumable) LSSJ transformation much larger.
(Really hoping that it doesn't provide a door to Broly appearing in canon material though. It's probably very unlikely, but I do worry about a small chance of a flashback to one of the movies once Goku/Vegeta see her transforming. Would be a deal-breaker in a major way for me.)

Finally a canon explanation of LSSJ..emperior wrote:Can't wait to see all the people complaining now praising it later once it shits all over Broly and she turns out to be so interesting we will all cry for more.

It might not be so obvious as of now but this has huge implications for db..
LSSJ is actually possible in canon world now, there could actually be a Saiyan of legends born in our own universe soon, goku wasn't the legendary super Saiyan but just a Saiyan who became a version any Saiyan can become..
Maybe gohan has another kid, the real Saiyan of the legends in born form the Saiyan having most potential isn't out of question..
If super goes on, a version of LSSJ to keep in the cast isn't a long shot seeing how they don't shy away from anything nowadays
