EDIT: Anyways I love that they actually drew Vegeta's nose like it was in the Saiyan arc.
Image
I am more impressed that that awful triangles in the noses are missing and Nappa's nose. You know what I mean. That the right part of their noses has a weird black/shadowy part that doesn't need to be there and it looks like their nose is 2 lines+that black triangle.
You mean like in Cell's close up? The nose is horrible, also I didn't like Buu's body shape, his head is really big compared to his body.

- Episode 75-

Whoah this was fantastic!!
The next major arc only starts officially February 5, but to me it already started with this episode and I loved everything. The storyboard, animation and art are top!

Goku vs Gohan fight was really well done. Why is Higahide such a boss?! I think Toei is using him the right away. This Man is quick and talented.
I rather he pops up often and delivers 5 great cuts, than wait for his episode turn to deliver 1 awesome cut. The streak of never disappointing me continues.

C18/Marron/Krillin talk was intense and I loved the heart's symbolism on the tea.
We never had this kind of shots in Dragon Ball before:
Image
Since Kohei took the reins we are getting more blood. Even though it's not much, it's still better than nothing.

I would like to know how much Chioka was influencing Super production, because everything is much better since he left.

And I'm not talking about art and animation, since the schedule was a living hell in the beginning and only the staff knows how much everything was burning behind the production of this anime, I'm talking about better pacing, better filler content and more blood.

Tagoma's ripped off Piccolo's arm, Freeza torturing Gohan, Sobert one shot Goku, Frost put a hole on Piccolo... All these scenes hadn't any blood and it was ridiculous.
I wonder if they would look different now...

I had no reason to think the production wouldn't keep getting better, since FT Trunks arc was a big improvement over Champa arc, but now I'm more positive than ever.
And it's cool to see more positivity around here.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

^I've said it a million times, but I have a good feeling about the next arc too, but that being said I don't want to jump to the conclusion that things are absolutely going to be great because of this episode, but it certainly makes me feel a little more confident about production improvements than I already did.

Storyboards were a little more interesting this episode, and I really liked some of the scenes and little add-ons in the Gohan vs Goku fight. I think I saw some digital post-processing as well, which is nice, but overall this episode didn't feel that different from what we've had so far in the series as a whole.

Same thing with the trailer of the next arc.

Don't get hyped yet. Everyone is excited due to a nice episode+the teaser.
None of these is an indication of a good arc.
We have to wait and hope that this time the animation AND the story will be better and more consistent.

Let's not forget 12 universe, 120 fighters. They will either make the biggest most awesome arc ever or a redone of buu saga. Super had 3 arcs that providesld only few original moments and the return of a lovable character. Now we need some originality in terms of storytelling.

I think it is how simple the designs are and different shading, I wouldn't mind if the whole series were like this.

Looks as flat as a piece of paper. I usually dig that style, but I don't think it looks that well here.

We won't, he's still all but disappeared from the series. Although from glancing, some seem to think that Yamamuro corrected part of yesterday's promo, which I'm 95% sure is false. I'm not as well-versed as some members of this thread, but I can pick out Yamamuro from a mile away, and nothing from that trailer screamed his name at me.
I have a similar feeling. It didn't looked as corrected as his usual stuff does. It was so different than the 1st OP or his episode from Super(12 I guess). I just hope that it turns out this way.

Whoever drew Cell in the preview screwed up his left eye a little. Who else is supervising, other than Shimanuki?

That's not a shot from the preview, that's from this episode.
Newtype only listed Shimanuki for 76.

I'm really not sure how fair it is to ponder about Chioka's influence on the early product, since he was handed such a mess. Dragon Ball Super is in a much more comfortable place now, although still not a normal production yet. There's no telling how he would have handled the show if things weren't so bad when they started.

Speaking of Chioka, if the next arc has at least average production time for its episodes I wonder if Chioka would be willing to come in and direct/storyboard an episode. How was his Tiger Mask episode?
