The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
Well, let's remember Goku Black said that Beerus was the most problematic of them all in the manga. The way it was put it is obviously vague, but do take his comments into account.
Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
Which is odd since Kibito called Beerus lazy since he was the one who was supposed to deal with Buu, but was asleep. Not sure how you can be both the most troublesome god, while also being too lazy to do your job.Grimlock wrote:Well, let's remember Goku Black said that Beerus was the most problematic of them all in the manga. This is the line that always puzzled me because we know in BoG Beerus said there were other gods more stronger than himself. We also had Whis say that the other GoD's were more violent than Beerus.
Idk to me it would be interesting and horrifying if the clown was the most violent of them all (not strongest but violent).

You know I hope we can see the gods fight at some point. Beerus is the only one we've seen actually fight for real. It would take a lot for the gods to have to fight someone though. Maybe the gods rebel against Zeno at some point and they all team up against him? I dunno.
Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
I generally like the Angel designs, particularly the tall ones like the yellow and brown garbed ones. Something about their underclothes being one color makes them look well designed to me. Also, if we look at Beerus/Whis and Champa/Vados, they share the same symbols and shapes on their clothes. By that, we know that the Angel next to the fox one in the trailer is the brown garbed Angel we got in the V Jump issue.
The Kaioshin I think have the worst designs. Some of those color schemes are just garbage to look that, which is surprising because I never had a problem with the colors Toriyama has put on his characters in the past. I think I'll enjoy them more in the manga. The first new Kaioshin that we see in the trailer, the one next to the Kuriboh-esque GoD, looks almost exactly like Shin (the U7 Kaioshin from the Buu arc), and to me that's a big problem (I find it funny because I never complained about Toriyama's same face thing ever before).
Finally, the GoDs: I think in general I like the designs. I'm still not sure if I like Champa or not, the way Toriyama drew him as a fat Beerus is just weird. The elephant/u10's GoD has a horrible color scheme too. My favorite I think will end up being the fox GoD or the Gimli + Ganondorf fusion we got in V-Jump. Oh and the clown I think looks good too, though I wonder how a clown is an alien race.
Its funny because out of all the new designs, the one I liked the most was the blue canine Goku was fighting in the trailer. fem!Broli is whatever to me, I don't like or hate it, I'm indifferent. Same with the alien Vegeta was fighting.

I'm technically a Hindu though I'm not particularly devout, but I always found it weird that I called Ganesh Ganapathi my whole life. Wonder if the two remaining gods are based on Ayappa or some female deity like Lakshmi. The angels having blue skin might be an ode to Shiva and Vishnu. I was wondering if Vishnu's 10 different avatars might be alluded to in the arc.DBZ Macky wrote: Yep, being Hindu myself I can confirm that. Lord Ganesha's father Shiva is also a literal "God of Destruction" for what that's worth.
We also have quite a few rebels like Zamasu but I'm not aware of most of it. So there's definitely some connections there.
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

He/She looks interesting enough. Maybe a potential new rival for Goku. I did enjoy seeing Vegeta fight one of the teletubbies.SaiyanZ wrote:I generally like the Angel designs, particularly the tall ones like the yellow and brown garbed ones. Clarifying, I'm not a supporter, the least. But lets be clear and Christianity is not a form of polytheism. Is rather a (mis)conception (?) of the radical nature of the universe, as opposed to philosophical materialism and inmanentism.
You're rather right that culture (either high arts and modern popular culture) tends to reflect this philosophical gibberish in material representations of three. Trinity is a word we use not only for the Christian idea of a three-minded God, but any triple combination of harmonizing elements. This speaking, what the Kaioushin/Hakaishin/Tenshi is a trinity indeed.
I'm aware of the Jews not believing in Christ and the trinity. I'm speaking in terms of origin. The two go hand in hand. They are general referred to in this way. I guess I could have omitted the "Judeo" part but they we are still referencing the same thing. ANd for the matter Christians still only believe in ONE god as well. Which is why they are similarly linked.
Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
He didn't really, specifically claim other Hakaishin as superior to him. In an inquisitive tone, he asked Goku if there were other beings of his level if twelve universes existed.DainIronfoot wrote:This is the line that always puzzled me because we know in BoG Beerus said there were other gods more stronger than himself. When Judeo-Christians are quoted together with this term, is usually done to explain from where does it come the european (and mostly western) culture nowadays, but not as a religion matter. That's why they are referred as two terms.MagmonKai wrote: I'm aware of the Jews not believing in Christ and the trinity. I'm speaking in terms of origin. The two go hand in hand. As for historical origins, usually the term "Abrahamic" fit better.
I learned english listening to songs. So I don't know anything about. The day you had to learn play piano by just listening .mp3, you'll understand.

Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
I just realized something:
The Hakaishin are named after alcoholic beverages
The Hakaishin of Universe 10 is a pink elephant
"Seeing pink elephants" is a phrase that means having drunken hallucinations
Coincidence?

Just realized these were all the gods Zamasu killed.

The Z Warriors will look at the transformation, say "Wow, she looks just like Broly!", and the hate floodgates will open. Just watch.
Also, I absolutely love the designs of the enemies Goku & Vegeta fight in the preview, as well as the Clown GoD. Not sure about the others, but at least not all of them are cats.

Not sure what I think about these new characters. A few of them seem like desperate ideas. Me thinks Toei may have been heavily involved with them, and then merely accepted by Toriyama.
I suppose the clown is alright, but probably would have preferred the "creepy magician/jester" direction kinda like Hisoka from HxH. Every anime needs its own sadistic and twisted character.

I never once thought Monaka was anything special even before the secret was revealed. I could tell very early on by Beerus' expressions and lines that he was hiding something.Lord Beerus wrote:That's we thought about Monaka...Ki Breaker wrote:Seeing how stupid he looks, he should be the strongest of them allGrimlock wrote:Won't people comment about the God of Destruction that has beard/fur all over his face?

I doubt Toriyama would let Toei design any characters especially the Gods of Destruction. Toriyama needs to at least design every single character that will have a main fight or the arc will be a complete mess as would not make any sense and the quality would probably be worse.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Not sure what I think about these new characters. Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
At first glance I think only two or three of those gods look decent. The rest look absolutely horrible. I swear Toriyama is on drugs or something... all the villains from dbz including most of the non cannon stuff had some awesome looking characters. A clown, a fur ball, pink elephant a dwarf and a god damn robot. Those are the gods of destruction? Lol gotta be a bad joke.
I hope Beerus fights at some point and whoops the cdap out of at least one of those wack looking gods.

Plot twist, the wackier Gods are all stronger than Beerus. Real talk, I don't see what's so wrong about the wackier looking Gods.julianix wrote:At first glance I think only two or three of those gods look decent. The rest look absolutely horrible. on the main page there are some HD pics of the new gods. There is one though that i still can't make out right, it looks like a tiny little rabbit or something. This tiny little thing is probably strong as f lol.
