Other (or after, whatever)world characters?

Post by Daizensushi-x » Sun Jun 10, 2007 2:20 pm

I'm going to ask this in my own topic, because no one ever seems to pay attention to me otherwise. Please, don't all comfort me at once. :?

Anyways, any thoughts on why there has never been any character besides Pikkon in the video games? I mean, c'mon, King Vegeta?

Hmph. What about Olibu? Etc Etc.

Well, we do get Goku with his halo in Budokai 3's Collectors'/Platinum and Greatest Hits releases, as well as in NEO I believe. Also, all the villains that die in the series and are seen in filler Hell or movie 12 are present; ranging from the Ginyu Force to Freeza, Dr. Gero, Cell, etc. And as you just said, Pikuhan, as well as King Cold. Umm, why Olivu? We already have a Hercules in Mr. Satan.

I think Olibu is rarely considered because he only fights Paikuhan... mainly to emphasize his already clearly monstrous power... while characters that are more minor (random freeza Soldier) are easier to use since they just... fight... lots of people.

I'd rather see Olibu, really... but storyline-wise, there's not much to do with him other than maybe have him fight... Piccolo Daimao? :?

I wouldn't mind a lot of AnoYo- fighters, though... granted the current game trend would have them not capitalize on their potential uniqueness (Aqua + water = good fighter... can turn sections of land into water... that could work in Sparking!, even...). And then we have a few other South and west quadrant fighters that have about the same development as "Burter" and would probably get the same treatment in movelists...

But something about including these character strikes me as useful, since it gives a more epic, universal feel to the game in particular: we're not just talking the major villains and heroes anymore, so instead of just building armies of gag characters and henchmen, let's make a freaking intergalactic odessy out of it... and cover the entire universe, show variety, take the hint and build a lot of unexplored storylines (without messing them up. V.V)...

There's potential, but does anyone working on a DBZ game know how to use it? I guess you can be the judge of that.

So... umm... I say "yes", but for... umm... artistic reasons? :?

Looks like Android 16 with a wig. So that's where he was adfter the Cell games.
Jord doesn't have a avatar because the combination of Jord and a equally cool avatar would cause the universe to implode.

I think it would be very interesting to have these tournament fighters playable. Does it seem like they're not using any filler characters in the games though (unless I'm forgetting about someone)? Or is it just a coincidence?

I don't count Paikuhan since he was also in a movie, and they obviously are using movie characters. But I can't think of any filler characters.

There are no such thing as coincedences.

If you are also discounting GT, LT my friend, I can think of no characters that were exclusively used as anime filler.

Well as discussed in a recent episode of the podcast, it's not like they have a lack of characters to pick from, but that won't make the game develop any further or make the character's actually fun to play...
