To what extent does real life physics apply to Dragon Ball?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

To what extent does real life physics apply to Dragon Ball?

Post by TheUltimateNinja » Tue Jan 24, 2017 5:40 pm

Obviously not much, but I'm wondering if there's anything at all that's ki related that can be related to real life physics.

Well KI does seem to function similar to Plasma, it gets weaker the further away from the user. It takes a large amount of energy to transform, but a tiny amount of energy to sustain it. Also when they ascend to higher levels of power they gain sparks

Death is the only real life physic that applies to Dragon Ball. Everything else is up in the air because the alien biology in the series is fucked up.

If you subscribe to the theory that Saiyans are just humans, that were picked up from earth and dumped of on planet Vegeta, then it makes more sense

People can't breath in space and people die if they are killed. That's about it.

But even then they don't always stay dead. So that's another rule broken

I don't think that the lizard's can breed with the monkey's, and besides can a human, and saiyan lay a egg?

Well, the Moon is destroyed several time with nothing happening and leaving no consequences on Earth. Toriyama doesn't think that much of physics when creating content.

Is there any canon info that says Freeza was hatched from an egg?

No nothing, but we can draw conclusions from Freeza's son Kuzira.
Image
Look at his head, there's a point on it, and the fact that nobody else possesses it, and Kuzira is a young-ling, leads me to believe that it's an egg tooth

Kuriza's head is based off of a chestnut, like with Kuririn's namesake. While not an in-universe friendly answer, it's meant to be a visual gag.

As RedRibbonSoldier#42 already said, "People die if they are killed". Also, humans are dumb, as in real life.
Though I think we have a member over here who could expand about "real life physics" a lot. He goes by the name Speedster.

I know that it's a complete and 100% percent visual gag, it's just that by doing that gag Akira Toriyama managed to effectively make it so that the Arcosian's hatch from eggs

The moon is also a lot closer to the Earth, with no apparent effect on the tides or anything.

Freeza is not a lizard. Freeza is a Mewtwo.

I think it's the same distance, as Toriyama said it was in a Q&A once. It's just that the art portraying it is inconsistent.
