The only time I thought those were acceptable was when something else was going on. Like with Gohan and Krillins adventures on Namek while we occasionally cut to Goku doing push ups in his ship.
But we already saw them go straight into the tournament in the U6 arc, and it would feel rushed if they do it again. it makes the actual tournament when we get there have even more hype surrounding it when we have preparation episodes leading up to it. They should take their time to be honest.
Sure, But if the training episode aren't interesting to watch then I'd rather not have them. Prep episodes are fine, but if it's just a chore to sit through, then I'm not "hyped", I'd just be sick of the wait. If it's just a work out routine episode after episode then I'm not interested. I wouldn't want that for any other series and I certainly wouldn't want it out of Dragonaball.
The last and the next episode of Super seems like pretty cool training for Krillin. If they want to keep doing stuff like that for everyone else then I'm all for it.

That is my feeling. I don't care to see people sparring. Put it in a five minute Rocky type training scene and move on. If they do what they're doing for Goku and Krillin in Episodes 75 and 76, yeah I'm board. One of my favorite filler training episodes was the humans fighting the Saiyans in that time room and them being brutally murdered.
Also since we had 10 episodes of build up and breather episodes, them jumping into the tournament wouldn't feel rush to me. Goku and Vegeta have been preparing for months. Don't slow down the pace for the stragglers.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

Didn't one of the summaries say that everyone apart from Goku forgot about the tournament? Even though Beerus mentioned it in episode 71 some time has passsed since then so Vegeta would not really be preparing. Piccolo would also be preparing as he said he was looking forward to the tournament at the end of the Champa arc and becuase everyone has to be assuming it will be at least 5 fighters per universe.

Vegeta always trains and seems to only stop to take care of his pregnant wife. So he probably forgot for that reason. Piccolo always trains regardless of what is happening.

I have prediction for 77 78 79 80 81 these are building up the u7 and u6 fighters and the other 8 god of destruction and in episode 81 or 82 the fighting starts

30 seconds still isn't fine for 2 of them. They easily could have had about 5 minutes but instead we got about 2 punches and some repeated punches.
Z has horrible pacing too but that doesn't mean Super I'd any better. Z was slow and Super is too fast. They can and should find a sweet spot. Episode 64 was confusing as hell because one moment it's Vegeta and black fighting then suddenly there are clones everywhere and Goku's fighting with him . They also skip kid trunks versus future trunks . It hurts the story.
It was fine for what is was since we already gotten episodes of Goku and Vegeta training in Reserrection 'F'. If they're just doing simple sparring or just an extention of that, we don't need to see it.
Most called Super superior because people in general prefer fast and to the point, than long-winded. It's only a few who call it too rush outside of some episodes like 66. And missing Future Trunks spar with Kid Trunks didn't hurt the story since they weren't the main story. The main story was stopping Zamasu from killing Gowasu. Trunks and little Trunks was a side act.
If still could have lent us some cool action. I wouldn't dismiss it just because weve seen it before.
Who cares if it's pacing is superior to Z? It's still bad.
So only the main story should matter? Side acts help make a story more dynamic and interesting. It could've been an amazing moment but it was treated horribly.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Besides character designs, the best thing this arc may have will be animation, I really don't expect anything story wise and there will be one or two interesting characters but that's it. I hope I'm totally wrong.
Welp, looking like thy are diving straight into the arc. No fucking around at all. I hope we get to see some interaction with Android 17 and the main cast before the tournament starts.

The Champa arc had them declare the tournament in the first episode too, so this doesn't mean much for when the tournament actually starts.
The gr wrote:It will be hilarious if Zeno start the tournament but all of team u7 with the exception of goku did not train for this
The summary mentions even Goku just "getting back into shape" by training with Whis, and apparently not even Vegeta is training due to Bra's upcoming birth. That seems like a set up for a large training regiment for the entire team after the tournament's announcement.

Yeah, chances are everybody has been taking it easy for some time. Since this implies at time skip.

I general don't like action for the sake of action. If something can be summed up quickly to move the actual plot, I prefer that.
That's your opinion. Many disagree.
Yes. The main plot should always move in some form and stalling the plot so we can watched the Trunks fight is pointless. We got the character moment we needed off of both of them and the scene didn't over stay its welcome. It was the perfect length for what was going on.

I wonder what will make Gohan change his "I'm not a fighter anymore" mentality, to suddenly accept to join the team at this Universal Tournament

You mean like 5 episodes of training? Mate, I believe you're mistaking Super with DBZ lol
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.

The promise of universal destruction seems like a good idea haha. ROF proves he'll still fight when shits going down .

Gohan returned to training so he could protect his family, why wouldn't he take part in a tournament where his entire universe's existence is on the line?
Gohan is not mainly a fighter but that does not mean he never fought when he felt he should. It is like saying Goku is always selfish and never goes another route when we know that is not true.

Wasn't Gohan willing to participate in the U6 tournament where there weren't any real big stakes but declined like last minute because he had a meeting? I'd assume he'd be even more willing to participate if his life and family is completely at stake in this tournament.
