Yeah, what's with that? Both Gohan and 18 wear tracksuits. Is this Toriyama's way of saying "Anyone wearing a tracksuit is super strong" or "These characters don't usually fight so they don't really have proper fighting wear". With Gohan, it was explained and I'm guessing for 18 - It's a similar reason: She is a wife who doesn't really fight anymore so she doesn't have fight clothes besides a tracksuit. Maybe Toriyama's saying anyone with a tracksuit is super lame? Someone explain please. Also, I think this is my first In-Universe post.

It's not just Gohan and 18 though. Goku was given a tracksuit when he went to train at Kaiō's immediately prior to the Beerus material. Most don't see the main character as lame.
I know this is the in-universe section, but I really think this just amounts to the fact that Toriyama likes and wears track suits himself. This is often seen with his Toribot persona wearing them these days in his occasional comments and the like.

Oh, okay - I do remember someone showing an image of Toribot in a tracksuit and I had forgotten Goku wearing his own variation of a tracksuit. Wouldn't mind seeing these in the games. Also, I wasn't sure if this even qualified for the In-Universe section - I was just curious as to why the characters are given tracksuits by Toriyama/Toei. Track suits are huge in Japan. Hell, they're huge in streetwear right now. Throw Gohan a Nike Tech and make him great again.

I'm convinced that Gohan in ROF was a self-insert character of Toriyama.
