My first roommate in college liked it and had it on whenever it aired on Toonami; I got into it with Garlic Jr. at daytime and Freeza at night. By the time Mirai made his grand debut, he was hooked.

I actually originally heard of it because it was so damn popular, I saw part of an episode where Vegeta was fighting Dodoria and was like "What the hell is this crap?" and kinda ignored it for about a year while everyone was raving about how cool it was.

Eventually, I ended up watching it during the school holidays in the Cell Saga as it was airing in the timeslot after Pokemon and I couldn't be bothered turning off the TV. I started to get into it and discovered how awesome it was. Of course, by the time school started again it wasn't 'cool' anymore. Oh well. :P (Holy crap, that was SO many years ago now. >_>;;)

Dragonball z wasn't very popular in the UK, so when it first aired on Cartoon Network after school, i had no idea what the show was about. I can't really remember what year it aired, but i think it might have aired in the year 1999. Back then, i didn't know much about anime or manga, so when i sat down and started watching DBZ, it got me hooked. Dragonball z was the first anime show i took interest to and still is my favourite show of all time. Gundam Wing was also airing at the time, but it never really interested me that much....
Just another Dragon Ball fangirl in the world.

DB & Tiger and Bunny are my main fandoms, along with many other animes.

The first episode I ever saw was the episode where Bulma gave Goku a Bath.

It must have been around April 1996. I was already into anime thanks to Sailor moon starting in 1995, and I was watching my Saturday morning cartoons as usual on YTV (The Brainwash). Anyways that Saturday, April morning was my first glimpse at Dragon Ball. I ending up watching all the episodes they had to offer, and they ended it right when Goku took off to train with Master Roshi!

A few months later I seen an ad for Dbz on Fox kids, but it was on at 4 in the morning so I didn't watch, and that I was still waiting to see Goku's training with Master Roshi. Anyways in October 1997 Teletoon aired Dbz at 9 every Wednesday night, and they stopped airing just when Goku caught Bubbles, and I didn't get the chance to watch it again until September 1999 when YTV got the rights to air it.

What is very cool about my experience is that, I actually got to see both series from there starting point, and personally I think, if I didn't get to see the first epsiode of each series, my interest for the series wouldn't have been the same.

Well, when the only glimpse you see of it is a random guy with spiky hair fighting a random spiky pink thing in some strange place where the sky is green and the grass is blue, your first reaction would be "What the hell is this crap?" too, right? :P

Caught Curse of the Blood Rubies on tv one Sunday. Will also say due to the old opening I thought Penny would be a regular character.

Funny story, actually...

One day, in around 1998 or so, I was over at a friend's house. I was eight at the time, so I logically brought a tape-recorder there just to mess around with.

Well, it was a sleep-over, and one of my friends took the recorder and started recording Dragon Ball Z, which, at the time, I knew nothing about, yet I thought it was some stupid wrestling show (yeah, I was eight, remember) because the scenes I saw had Mr. Satan and his apprentices and Cell in the Cell Games arena... I ignored it until a few days later, I listened to the tape just for fun, and I listened to DBZ, and I was intrigued. The rest is history.
