Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 76
Wow, Super Staff is actually really talented.
It made me believe the whole team could produce a regular Slice Of Life anime with the current schedule.
But, I have some questions. Kyoto Animation is marvelous isn't it? Are Dragon Ball Super's animators are the same level as KyoAni's animator? After watching Kyoukai No Kanata. They're really using them animators. The Storyboard, animation, everything!
Almost all of the battle scenes felt like watching Shida's animation, but it's not as fluid or as good.
They even made an Idol Dance for the fillers, but the actual Dance had more animations than the battle itself.
So, if Super animators work on KyoAni.. Are they really categorized as precious? Because that anime is broken.
I recommend to watch the fights in YouTube.
But, really. Are Super's animators can be compared to KyoAni's?
Sorry, if this is too off-topic. But every episode of KyoAni's anime is just Tate, Karasawa, Manabe, and Shimanuki. Like, every episode had more animation and better storyboard than episode 66.

Considering the quality they deliver so far in basically a broken production, we can safely say that Toei has some animation monsters. Most of them can deliver such quality in a weekly series that most animators can't even imagine.Gashif Aldi wrote:But, really. Are Super's animators can be compared to KyoAni's?
In my opinion, the story behind animation is way more interesting that the final product and these people can sure tell you some wacky stories considering their experience with Toei. Yes they are talented....a lot. Check their biggest projects (ovas and movies).
What I have heard multiple times, but can't confirm it, is that Toei doesn't promote innovation. The company seeks presentable/standard work and doesn't let them do what they want and go crazy.
Just watch some of their work for example in movie Gold. Masterpiece
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 76
KyoAni are the gold standard of animation. Their inner structure is almost unheard of outside of their studio, having no need for overtime or underpaid animators.Gashif Aldi wrote:But, I have some questions. Kyoto Animation is marvelous isn't it?
They have their own school and put real emphasis on embracing young talent and pushing them forward through their company. They're unified by a real tight-knit shop, almost never relying on freelancers bouncing from studio to studio.
They're essentially the antithesis of a giant corporate entity like Toei. They produce only what they can handle, and man, is it always fantastic.
For a proper breakdown, RCAnime has a solid video on them.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 76
His last episode before 26 was episode 18(8 weeks). He helped in frieza's transformation on episode 23 i think, We can cut that to maybe 6 weeks of time for 26 or maybe a bit less (he solo-animated the first half of #26) he was getting screwed by the schedule, but not as much as he was between 56-72.Gog wrote:I just watched one of Ajay's episodes. This one to be exact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXenwvA7Clg
When he actually showed the Tate Golden Freeza Vs SSB Goku. I got excited at it, it was simply stunning to watch. If this is Tate when he isn't getting screwed by the schedule, then I would love to see his work all aver super.
(I've said this before but whatever xd)In between 56-72, this was his schedule (Bold letters mean episodes he was the supervisor/top key animator for.)
56 63, 65 66, 69 72. And then we have the new opening. hes probably the top key animator on there too.
*With episode 63 he had to work on Tiger Mask W's opening. assistant supervisor on #66 and KA on 69*
pretty screwed over i'd say

I really don't see how that means anything, when I can see the episode myself to see how much work he put in, and from what I've seen it isn't much. The only thing he worked on this episode was the Vegeta vs Arale fight, there were a few kicks and punches, but it was nothing too demanding. The two were sitting idle for most of the time and it only took up like 20 second of the episode. Unless he did some storyboarding or being 4th credited actually means something, you can basically say this episode had little to no affect on his work moving forward.iAnimationLover_ wrote:SaiyanGod117 wrote:He barely did any work for episode 69.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 76
Since the dub just began, I've decided to use that as an opportunity to make my way through the earlier episodes of Super in my video series.
For those who are interested, I've covered the first four episodes in one big video.
About to start grinding out a script for episode 5 so I can have a good video to post in response to its upcoming airing.

^Great job! I look forward to your episode 5 video. I've been watching reactions on another site to people watching the show for the first time with the dub and they are mostly liking it and I'm sure your video will help them understand why the quality drops of a cliff with episode 5. That being said with it being the bluray version it probably won't be anywhere near as big of a negative reaction. Speaking of are you going to cover the bluray changes in your video?
Anyways, I'm trying to figure this one out, Yokoyama maybe?

He did some work on some scenes with beerus and got corrected by manabe on another (i think) but thats about it, youre rightSaiyanGod117 wrote:I really don't see how that means anything, when I can see the episode myself to see how much work he put in, and from what I've seen it isn't much. So Ajay, i watched your video on the PV, and then i watched geekdom's video which has it slowed down. (but yours has better quality so i went back to it)
You said 'Fembroly' was probably done by Naoki Tate, but looking at the way it moves (specifically the arm) and it's angular shading, I think it may actually be Naotoshi Shida's work. Compare that to Luffy's Gear four transformation..... or any of Luffy's G3 attacks and it matches pretty well.... actually Shida seems quite fond of that arm sway in general.

I just watched that video, and I wish, that Toei was like that. But I can only wish, as Toei doesn't like taking risksAjay wrote:KyoAni are the gold standard of animation. Nobody had any comments on if they thought that Goku image was Yokoyama, but this one definitely is, right?

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 76
Could be! It's a bit like what I said about Ishikawa: it's hard to pick on-model folks out without staff list context.
Both of those images you posted do have a Yokoyama-feel to them, though. Eyebrow stuff and a general softer look, for sure.
I'm just wondering whether she would have had time. She vanished for a few weeks to work on Super #75 and One Piece #773, so I'm curious as to whether she'd have enough time to correct to Yashima's work in two (?) weeks.

She may have been working on 77 alongside those. I don't remember anything in 75 particularly standing out looking like her. Looking at her history even if she wasn't this would still be pretty normal for her, she just wouldn't have a massive touch on the episode I guess. She worked on a ton of episodes, many back to back, in the Future Trunks arc while also working on One Piece. I'm really curious to see how many 2nd key animators there are on the episode.Ajay wrote:Could be! That's true. I haven't really gauged her speed yet. If she is working on the episode, then hey, at least we know she's a speedy one!ArchedThunder wrote:She may have been working on 77 alongside those.
