Why are there different colours to Ki blasts ?

I know aura Colorado shows if you are good or evil , but even if Vegeta's changed , his galick gun Color didn't .

Cell was evil still he fired a blue KHH , unlike Buu who did a pink one .

Also Trunks is pure yet he has the purple galick gun like Vegeta and cell .

In the manga (full color at least) pretty much every ki blast (not all of them Colorado) is the same color yellow

It's mostly an aesthetic choice. In the manga most ki blasts are yellow, in the anime they tried to add variation.

There's probably a set of colours for Ki blasts and certain people just happen to have a certain blast colour.

I'm so glad the anime cleaned that problem up. I will never get used to he idea of yellow KHH, or yellow Death beams

Yellow or white seem to be the norm but the characters can change the color as they choose.

I figure for the most part it's just... different techniques produce differently-colored blasts. Kamehamehas are blue (unless you're a magical weirdo like Buu, apparently... does he ever fire a non-pink blast, by the way? if not, I guess maybe pink energy blasts really is a feature of Buu's weirdness), Gallic Gun is purple, Final Flash is yellow, and so on.

The characters who invented the attacks might have some control over what color they are (so maybe Roshi decided Kamehameha should be blue, Vegeta wanted Final Flash to be yellow, etc.), but not everyone who learns the same attack would be able to change the color to whatever they want -- they'd have to have at least the same level of mastery over it as the original creator first. Of course, it might be that a certain mixture of ki released in a certain way/form just naturally takes on a certain color (I'm guessing generic exploding spheres and beams/waves are the exception since there's just so many differently-colored variations of these two types) and even the move's creator can't change that without also changing some other attribute of the attack. It's hard to really guess with any certainty since the significance of blast colors is never brought up in the series at all.

Most ki blasts during the saiyan arc of the full color manga were yellow, the heroes had yellow ki blasts and even Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta had yellow ki blasts despite being villans. However Piccolo had purple ki blasts which I suppose represents his demonic heritage. This leads me to believe that characters (in the manga at least) have little control over what the color of the ki blasts can be.
