There's absolutely no reason why characteres like Gohan/Piccolo or even Krillin shouldn't get to train with Whis.
I mean they are fighting for their universe, right ?
I don't think they are going to win without being trained (except if Toriyama decides that power levels don't matter..).

How is it Toriyama being lazy? He's not drawing the series, nor is he writing the episodes, if he wanted them to be trained it would be as easy as adding a single sentence to his outline "Whis trains everyone in preparation for the tournament."

Saying they train is easy but what about the results of their training.

I definitely am, but him training with piccolo is going to guarantee one thing, he dosen't get a power boost, at most he will get the level he should already be at mystic..

This happens with me so much, goku instead of go, SS instead of as, Jaco instead of just.. the list goes on

Also this really is nostalgia based though. When's the last time Gohan trained with Piccolo ? Piccolo hasn't been his mentor in a long time. Even in the androids saga, Goku was there. I like their relationship though so it's not too big of a deal but it's something to think about.

Gohan got my hopes up when him and Goku had a sparring session which even looked like Gohan getting the better of that (honestly I didnt care about more powerlevel inconsistencies at the time, all I felt was hype), then we see him doing mind training now (if that shot is from an ep) but then again I really dont want to get my hopes up too much since this already happened back in U6 arc so yeah, I'm still keeping my expectations low job Gohan job.

Tenshinhan might be the dark horse In Team U7, if his 3rd eye turns into a plot device, then I can see Piccolo jobbing in order to hype Tenshinhan. Piccolo keeps getting more and more irrelevant imo.

I wonder if the Gods will have their own side tournament: weird bets, convincing the Zeno's to add odd rules to benefit their fighters, behind the scenes cheating, etc...

Yea, that you be cool, something like the Dark Tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho.

If toriyama writes that he is training, yes, that's gonna amount to a lot and goku Should be involved..
That's why I was so sure, but they would at least show that in the opening if that was the case, it's a big hype thing..

Gohan isn't that much Wesker than Vegeta was when he went to go train with Whis. Besides, Whis could scale his training to s lower amount until he gets to that level.
