We had black and zamasu being beaten by smoke grenades so this level of bad writing wouldn't surprise me considering it's Toei we're talking about.

The writer that wrote episode 75 wrote this episode too. In episode 75 krillin took a bullet to show how weak he has become, so I'm 90% that a bullet will injure Goku while his guard is up.

tbh this series was doomed to inconsistency for a long while. Even if nothing absurd happens in the up coming episode, enough stuff has already happened. The universe hasn't been destroyed despite Goku fighting at levels higher than he used against Beerus. The planet doesn't go boom boom when a ki blast hits it. Black would have probably been killed by Mai's shotgun. Krillin gets hurt by a bullet and has to take shelter behind a car. Goku acts surprised that Krillin would tell him not to turn into a super saiyan. The same goku doesn't use super saiyan on Gohan until he is told to stop holding back. What does all this mean? Does it mean the durability of the universe increases at an astounding rate? is every ki blast that hits the planet made out of love? Are bullets training to get stronger every arc? Is Krillin stronger than base Gohan?

I don't see how just by being an Kaioshin does make him invulnerable to chemical substances, not bullets, actually chemicals substances that affects the bodies of living beings (like overheating), ki does not make everyone invencible to anything. Also, they were not "beated", they were stopped for a moment. This is just overreacting.
